PTC Perth - Whats happening?

I'm not sure any more lol

I swear I saw it in the same post as the one that mentioned the squat bar
Maybe I'm just losing my marbles

*edit*
There you go

Last night big boy Sione squatted 190kg and Dave (wingman) did 140kg 3x3 deadlifts.

Thanks to Paul for running the BBQ again.

We have ordered the last 3 29mm 198kpsi Power Bars made by Ken Priestley back in the day. Great bars! The only power bar I can think of better on the market is the ELEIKO 29mm 218kpsi - which we have!

Gettin crazy busy at PTC Perth with new faces poking their heads in almost daily. Some new members incluce Adam, Cameron, Chris and Kayla.

Cameron and Chris are novice lifters with not much lifting experience and have already started their journey.

Adam has some lifting background but for all intent and purpose is still a novice in terms of strength.

Kayla is a Crossfitter looking to get her strength up. She's a fit girl.

Owen came in last night for the first time. He's from over east and competed this year in the Firemans Games and competed mainly in the strongman events. He squatted up to around 100kg for reps and rackpulled 150kg for reps. He will be coming in more regularly.

Looking back since we opened its been awesome with plenty of interest, competitions, seminars and of course heavy lifting with lifters breaking personal bests left right and centre.

The next 12 months are going to be very interesting and if things continue along the same path we will be busting at the seems with lifters. Our new equipment couldnt come any faster to be honest - there'splenty on order including out monolift, bars, competition bench, ELiteFTS leg press and more.

In terms of competitions over the next 12 months we will be holding plenty of PTC in house comps our first being the 18th January 2013 which is a novice powerlifting comp. We already have more than 10 pre-registered so if you are interested let me know - you'll be lifting with GPC world championship standard equipment.

Other upcoming events are already now losted on our web site under the "Competitions" menu on the left hand side.

For you members reading... we have our Christmas Party coming up on the 15th December and big big thanks to Dani for organising this. Remember to put your name on the list in the gym before this weekend as Dani needs to confirm numbers on Saturday.

PTC Perth is getting busier every week as new lifters keep signing up, its actually starting to get crazy - a great problem to have. Lucky we have a pretty big assortment of gear on the way in which coudlnt come soon enough. That list includes:

AMFX M2 Monolift
SportKraft Competition Bench Press
Sportkraft Monster 35mm Squat Bar
EliteFTS Mondo Leg Press
7 x Ken Priestley 29mm Power Bar 198kpsi (1 pair collars)
Vertec
106kg Kettlebell
2 x Deadlift Jacks

Im guessing we should have it all by lat Jan early Feb with some expected earlier, like the mono.

We are also considering putting in another lifting platform as our demand for the platforms grow, in particular on the tues/thurs nights where our oly lifting athletes take to the platofrms.

Once the gear comes in there will be some rearranging to be done but we have a plan and it should work out nice.

Early in the new year we also plan on increasing our range of strongman gear with a yoke and atlas stones.

This Saturday night we have our Christmas party which should be good and then its followed up with a few of us going to Adventure World on Sunday for some water slide action. Cant wait, I love water slides! haha

We had 25 training last night and what a killer atmosphere it was. Mr Plumber commented how exciting it was with all the activity and team work going in – that’s what I like to hear.

Speaking of Plumber he’s recovering from a niggling shoulder injury and was sporting a very interesting apparatus on his shoulder. It apparently sends electric current through the shoulder – very interesting indeed. Good luck with the recovery mate, I know how you feel, a lot of us do.

Dave “wingman” was in for his 1RM testing and did very well nailing the 140kg squat, 80kg bench and 180kg deadlift – well done mate. I will be putting up a blog entry on the web site with more details of Dave’s progress since he came to PTC, it’s quite amazing. He’s added 230kg to his total since his first day on June 3rd.

Check out his lifts:

Dee deadlifted 102.5kgx5

Linus squatted 160kgx8 @ 80kg

Yianni benched 97.5x8 @ 67kg

Kosta our latest member at just 13 years old is part of the Soccer NTC squat in Perth. His parents have seen the light and recognise the importance of S&C to their sons future in the sport. He’s an awesome little guy and last night Paul had him doing plenty of body weight exercises and managed 2 planks of 2.5m each and finished with the prowler. We look forward to Kostas progress in the coming months.

Who else was in? Sal, Darren, Dani, Bash Brothers, Cassie, Kayla, Jamie, Matt Mai, Mike (our latest 200kg lifter), Perry, Mitch,Chris, Cam, Josh and Shanks.

Our choc cherry protein balls finally came in as well and they are a big hit... delicious! Nom nom nom

Seeing Kosta on the agility ladder was quite a spectacle, he was faster and more agile than anyone else i've seen in the gym so far.

Wingman looked like had a few more reps in the squat tank no?

On the squat? Nah that was pretty tough. I tried 142.5 after that and couldnt get out of the bottom at all.

On the bench i prob could have trippled that... yet failed 85... twice. Go figure.

He was at max, I even would have liked more depth but it was a legal squat. He attempted 142.5kg and squatted lower but it burried him.

When we do these 1RM tests we sometimes fall short of a true 1RM if the technique is at a point where there is risk of injury, which is what we did with Daves deadlift. The 180kg flew up but didnt like the look of his back so left it at that.

From now we work on strengthening that back so is able to pull more safely.

I told you bench was a funny lift. You'll find you can do a lot more reps close to your 1RM than you can with a squat or deadlift and that as was the case last night, your 1RM will come up smooth but add a few more kilos and it can bury you.

Dont stress youre not far off it.
