How Much Training Until You Get Sore

I see people around over the years saying that you have to get sore to get bigger. Which I somewhat dis-agree with as I've gain a fair amount of muscle with rarely getting sore. I've been lifting for quite a few years now progressively adding more and more volume (and weight when appropriate)...

Building legs without squats or presses

I haven't squatted in the last 12 months. The only quad exercise I did was leg extensions. For the 1st 10 months I did them three times every 2 weeks (10 sets of 20). Even though I cut down and my wasit went from 85cm to 78cm, my quads stayed at 67cm. That was with bugger all training to be...

    Powerlifting posting in Bodybuilding Forum

Alright i'll stay out of here and let the new guys waste time on the leg extension machine instead of squatting. I miss the days on here when top quality advice was always offered, and people were put on a solid start. Now we have people who see the word squat or deadlift in a routine and...

    New to all this

If you call starting strength a powerlifting routine, then you should call it a olympic weightlifting routine as well. It has power cleans in there and olympic weightlifters do them, so it must be a olympic weight routine. That's the same logic people who call it a powerlifting routine are...

    New to all this

You don't start out on a powerlifting routine, no one does. Starting strength, PTC beginner routines are just that - beginner routines. They aren't for powerlifting or body building. They build the base for either, ie learning and doing compound lifts. As for when to change that is up to...

    3 day upper body only

Overhead press isn't the best way to improve bench press. Doing more bench press is the best way when your bench press is under 140kg. Plus he said it hurts his shoulders.

    New to all this

When someone starts lifting, whether they want to do bodybuilding for powerlifting they should follow the same routine/very very similar. As a new lifter needs to put the most focus on compound lifts, squat, bench, deadlift, military press, rows etc. Not fucking around on the chest press...

only a few last sets to failure?

First thing I would do is be in bed before 12:41am, you need lots of sleep if you want good results from the gym. Next I would move deadlifts to first on your back day (i'm assuming that what the day is). Overall imo its not as bad as most spilt routines people make up, the rest I would...

    Ten Commandments of powerlifting.

Equipped means using squat suits, bench shirts and deadlift suits. Has nothing at all to do with drugs. However in answer to your questions, from what I have heard a massive amount use them (but not everyone). Even in drug tested leagues like IPF, drug tested doesn't mean drug free.

    Ten Commandments of powerlifting.

+1 that's what it means and should be applied to weight training regardless of goals (BB/PL/OL). Don't go its only a 60kg bench warm up and put minimum effort and no setup into it, not a good habit to get into.

    Turkish Getups

I don't do them as my routine is already full of exercises that will actually help me achieve my goals better/faster then Turkish Getups would.

Strength = most amount of weight moved. What you described is a body weight : strength ratio. If a 180kg powerlifter squats 400kg, and a 100kg powerlifter squats 300kg. Who is stronger? The 180kg powerlifer, he moved more weight = stronger. Who as the better strength : body weight...

No such thing as a seated military press, its seated overhead press or seated shoulder press. People use the term 'military press' to loosely these days.
