Not sure how many of you guys are aware that Rippetoe was part of crossfit. He owned a crossfit gym and unfranchised himself as he had an argument with crossfit head office. He still has that same gym and runs things his own way, but i doubt anyone would have heard of him otherwise.

From now on when anyone mentions Stronglifts this will be my standard response;
Who is Mehdi? Mehdi is author & founder of StrongLifts.com. He’s been training consistently since 10 years.
Best Lifts (all raw, no belt) @ 75kg - as at 1/1/09
* Deadlift: 170kg
* Box Squat: 135kg
* Box Front Squat: 130kg
* Bench Press: 100kg
* clean & press: 65kg
Why people listen to this guy like he's some sort of guru is beyond me.
Yeah maybe that's it, or maybe I think of crossfit as principles rather than a program. The 2nd half of your comment i agree with - its just S&C with a name. McDonalds sells more burgers than mum&pop burgers on main st of littletown, same thing.

On his site he now claims a 180kg/400lb squat and 220/500 pull at 78/175
Nothing to be sneezed at but not brilliant for someone doing "5x5" since 1999

So bring a PTC over to Perth and I'll be the first to sign up. Or maybe I'll win lotto and open my own gym and it'll have a mixture of strength programs depending on the client, and incorporating some (not all) crossfit methods for conditioning.
Just humour me here and define the crossfit principles/methods that you hold in high regard.
Am I allowed to answer with a link?
CrossFit Football for example is the list of WODS done in January 2012 by the affiliate Crossfit Football, (based in Calif). It's written by a 10 year veteran of the NFL, targeted at NFL players and has said in articles that it's basically the same as what his coaches had him do.
Humor me with your thoughts. Tell me if you find something scary or dangerous.
Edit: I should also mention that that link contains only the conditioning component. There's a strength component as well 4 days per week.
Fuck I could rant about this for ages but I hope you get my point.
You're a bit of a ranter
But yes i get it and completely agree.
Why is this a problem for you? It's no different to McDonalds making the same burgers people have been making for centuries and giving each one it's own name for marketing purposes.
Also, that link was going to the wrong place initially but i fixed it.
I hate that they've commercialised something I love. I hate the douchebaggery it attracts. I hate hearing people talking about it as if its something revolutionary when its just PL/WL with conditioning work done for time. And fuck I hate kipping pullups.
On that site i linked, pullups and chinups are both done regularly (and so are weighted ones of each) and almost no one following that programming does the kipping variety
I agree its attracted a lot of douchebaggery. I still frequent their forums and roll my eyes at the stuff some people come up with.
lol nice chart
But what is irongarm? And why do you end up there in most scenarios?
The Irongarm Couch thread, 1164 pages of bitching about crossfit. Couch stands for coach aka Glassman.

This sums up a lot of my points nicely...
Wingman, Dave is exactly right. What you are giving credit to crossfit for is not actually crossfit but normal s&c programming then just using the crossfit brand to promote it self.
As for Rippetoe. Haha, you have no idea what you are talking about. He was popular before he did a few crossfit workshops. In the end he ended it because of there lack of programming, progression and form in exercises.
Louie Simmons also did a few crossfit workshops as well. What next, crossfit popularized westside or maybe crossfit even invented the westside conjugate system.
