xfit appreciation thread

So before it was awful and now its normal s&c? Glad to see.

Rip more than did a few workshops, he was franchised.

As for Louie, don't use past tense CrossFit Specialty Courses he's on the regular roster. They search out experts in each field to gain knowledge from.

What?? Did you even read. Yes crossfit is retarded. What I said was, what you are giving credit to crossfit for is not even crossfit. They are just using the crossfit brand to get you into the gym.

As for rip it doesn't matter or not if he was a crossfit affiliated gym or whatever for a few years. He ended because he realised it is shit and you said he would not have been known if it wasn't for crossfit. Total bullshit, he was around well before fucking crossfit and popular on the net before crossfit was.

Louie is still on the roster, cool maybe he can talk some sense into them but I doubt it and he will just end up and another name on the long list of people that have cut ties with crossfit.

I guess if he's smart he'll sing for his supper (as so to speak) and sell the ME and DE training concepts which the CF gobble up every last bit.

Is he actually on the roster so to speak or have crossfit clubs just sent member/coaches to his powerlifting seminars/workshops with the promise of 'crossfit credits'

It was funny watching a video where he had a guy do a complex involving a Romanian power clean, hang power clean and push press then told him to rest 30 seconds before doing it again
Him and a couple of others had a stunned look on their face 'lolwut rest?'

I think you guys are clutching at straws here. There's nothing bad about consulting with experts from each field in order to make an overall program - Louie on powerlifting, bergener on oly lifting, dr romanov on running, a gymnastics guy a kettlebell guy, olympic rowing chic etc, etc, etc

It's no different to you or I having a legal guy, accounting guy, property manager chic to consult regarding our assets. Either figure things out on your own or seek out the best person from each field.

I doubt anyone here would disagree on that and I don't think anyone has... I believe they are all saying that the people you quote such as Rippetoe and Louie are paid consultants but having nothing to do with how crossfit is run besides adding their expert opinion from their fields. They want those certificates with crossfit to improve and move on from WOD shit that Glassman started. So now crossfit certified trainers are using better methods than Glassman crossfit WOD method, good on them but it isn't technically crossfit anymore it is just plain strength and conditioning training.

CrossFit Faq

it kinda sounds like Amway

in 2011, Crossfit got 18 people to do kipping muscleups!!!
no really, it's on their "trophy" page

regarding nutrition.
My Zone calculations seem awfully low in calories; is this enough food to maintain or gain mass?
There are more calories than you see; when counting Zone blocks, you only consider the primary nutrient type (e.g., treat fruits, vegetables, and any grains as a carb source alone. Eat lean protein and don't count its fat content towards your 1.5g of fat per block. Eat healthy fats and ignore any non fat macronutrients they have. Don't count the protein in tortilla, banana, or pecans, etc. Consider them carbs or fat. Treat peanut butter as a fat. You wouldn't apply the protein and carb totals in peanut butter towards your block count.
lolwot?

$3000/year seems awfulyl expensive for an OPEN SOURCE model...

ZonePerfect Nutrition

40/30/30, and " Spreading your calories and nutrients throughout your day by eating 5 to 6 small meals rather than 3 large meals is smart nutrition as well"

PS, i'm not trying to knock crossfit.. it's good when anything gets people moving... just surprised by the model... or lack of..

so.. if it's not a franchise.. can you get sued for using the name "crossfit" without their permission?

1. everyone already knows zone is shit
2. you can only use the name if you're affiliated

1. i didn't :P
2. is that legally enforcable in Australia? since it is not a business franchise?

I dont think business franchise or not weighs into the equation at all. I'm not a lawyer but I always thought an international trademark was an international trademark.

I hold a Level 1 cert and the documentation I got along with that says "You can designate yourself as a Crossfit Trainer on your website or business cards. You cannot use the CrossFit name, slogans, art work, photos, or content from the CrossFit Journal in any other business or promotional manner. Only affiliation gives you the legal right to use the CrossFit name for business and/or promotional purposes."

ahh, you appear to be correct.. they do chase people down, even when only vaguely similar words are used...

Crossfit has a nbumber of trademarks.. including the word "Infidel" (and Kettlebear :p )
CrossFit, Inc. Trademarks :: Justia Trademarks

well, they did have Infidel trademarked, but no longer...

they also have "3...2...1...GO!" trademarked.... does that mean no-one is allowed to say that anymore? :D

edit: they chased down someone trading as "crossfitness" already..

they even chase blogs!
I need to report 2 blogs for trademark infringement. How do I do that? - Blogger Help

so in the end, "Crossfit" is just like "Billabong"?

They were selling infidel tshirts to raise money to donate equipment to deployed soliders. They dropped it when Reebok too over as main sponsor of Crossfit. Or thats what I heard anyway.

Never heard of the other ones, thats hillarious.

shit.. i just realised I may have invented Crossfit(TM)!!

25 years ago, my mates and I would run around the house, jump off the balcony onto high jump mats, do stuff on monkey bars, throw a shotput or discus, and repeata few times... and it was all timed.... just like crossfit!!!!

how do I sue them? unfortunately I don't have any proof of prior art :( since we never permanently recorded the times or put them onto blogs (blogs weren't invented yet you see... neither was the internet as we know it)

then again, i didn't charge my friends for the priveledge of running around my house either... what a missed opportunity!

edit: and we didn't have "workout of the day"s... it was called "fun" or "physical activity" or... "exercise"... maybe that is so rare these days that it needs a fancy name to get people to do it?
