PTC Perth - Whats happening?

Well they say "Only the STRONG shall survive"......well looks like we're all gonna live forever boys haha BOOOM!

We had a great night Ptc Perth last night with:

James Plumb grinding out some technique work on his axle lifts

Michael doing his usual and disrespecting the weights throughout his marathon Oly program

Dan Sienkeil hitting some PPP in style

Mr Football (Spencer) finishing off his last weeks of his program thats seen some great results

Long lost patriot Nat flew and got back on the wagon pressing pulling anything in his way

after increasing his weights last week Anthony is still looking very strong under the bar....keep believing mate!

Thommo was working on his squatting technique as his pretty new shoes took him a little off.

Bao & Julie were here for a week pass to check us out and where impressed with what they saw in both equipment and camaraderie im sure they'll be back when there membership finishes up at baysie!!

Mr Dan Rucci made an appearance and like the dedicated athlete he is completed his shoulder rehab routine which saw his shirt disintegrate!

And we also welcome 2 newbies into PTCPerth, Ando who competed in our bench comp and weighing in at 81.5kg pressed out 140kg on his second attempt and than just missed 150kg on his 3rd. This boys got some game :)
And another Josh we will call him "mini me", he's been out of the lifting game for a while but was impressive with his technique and with an "I just want to squat everything" attitude im sure he'll fit right in here!

Myself well i jumped back into doing some clean and jerk technique work but think ill have to give the shoulder a bigger break between workouts, as the fatigue was to much to handle when I got to the pressing.

Its great to see all our athletes looking strong and so dedicated to their performance and others! Keep up the awesome work guys and girls and the Pantene effect will take over ;)

10th August - Friday Night Frenzy

I look forward to the Friday Night Frenzy... what's not to like? End of the week, some hard dedicated training... YES!

Tonight we had the usual crew in.

* Joey "The Boxer" - doing his usual skipping, UDLs, plenty of foam roller and stretching.

* Dobrilla "Dee" - she's going to be out squatting some of the guys soon I have no doubt. Her extra work is paying dividends.

* Matt "Whitey" - Always puts in 100%, tonight deadlifted 145kg for 3 sets of 3.

* Matt "Mafia" - I've seen Matt progress from a health spa mirror bunny into now on the verge of hitting 140/100/180. He's making great progress and tonight deadlifted 162.5kg for 2 sets of 3, a personal best.

* Ricky and Johnny - The bash brothers are extreme, there's no two ways about it. Rick deadlifted to 152.5 for 5, did some incline bench and DB rows.

* Josh "The Machine" - Boy wonder takes intensity to new heights. Josh is on a 290kg deadlift PPP and tonight had him peak at 237.5kg for 3. We ended the night with some deficit deads from 90mm and he worked up to a 240kg single.

* Shanks - On a deadlift PPP and worked up to 237.5kg for 3.

* Nelson "Mandella?" - Hailing from South America, Nelson actually does x-fit a fair few times a week but wants to get some real training in. :) He's on a 3 day strength based program.

* Dan "Danimal" - I'm on week 6 of my deadlift PPP and worked up to 177.5kg for 3 tonight, then finished with deficits and cambered bar squats.

Dan, thanks for a great session last Friday. Some great tips and changes for me to take away. Significant DOMS in the glutes too, those UDLs are pretty awesome.

In total 18 athletes training very hard.

Also congrats to Thommo who deadlifted 150kgx8 for a rep PB.

22/8/12

* Dan Rooch was in to test his shoulder, finished with some t-bar rows and shrugs. Its weeks out from worlds and its looking like his bench will be lower than it was at GPC nats. Hes confident he'll be able to beat his own records in the squat and deadlift though.

* Shanks finished week 8 of his bench PPP then overloaded with a sling to 130kg for reps. Continued on with trap bar pendlay rows, close grip chins, KB presses and seated curlzzzz. Dan is going to compete in the wild west shootout. Hes the defending winner actually!

* Spencer benched 70kgx5x5 with strict form, did dips, chins, side presses and hammer curlzzz. Spence is also planning to compete in his first powerlifting meet at the WWS looking at 120/90/150 to baet his current bests.

* Paul (me) finished my week 8 PPP bench at 120kg, front squatted 85kgx3x10, knocked off 2x20 UDLs at 80kg from the towers, finshed with a gruelling prowler complex and some DB/band work which I call junk time. I'm also planning to compete in the WWS, we'll see how things go.

* Ricky squatted up to 137.5kg for 5s, MPed to 62.5kg and did weighted pullups. Lastley worked on some bench technique with Johmmy (little bash).

* Johnny is getting stronger fast and squatted 62.5kgx5x5, deadlifted 87.5kgx5x5 and MPed 47.5kgx5x5.

* D is on her deload week working with 50% weights. Also took an opportunity last night to test her bench press 1RM which she comfortably did at 50kg. D is going to compete next year and will be beating kaz in no time :p.

* Jamie started to deadlift sumo technique and was in for general rehab work.

* Kapish was in for his beginners program.

* Terry deadlifted, box squatted and GHRrrrredddd. Terry is planning on going 650 next year in the Masters category (IPF). We know he'll easily make that total.

Intensity has been great this week. Lots of athletes are nearing the ends of their training cycles. Its getting busy and the extra gear on order cant come soon enough. Theres even been talk of buying a fourth rack. That would make 4 racks, a mono, a combo and squat stands (for squatting). Well see how it goes once we have the mono.

Once Dan is back from worlds we will be focussing on the Wild West Shootout comp and the GPC puch/pull. Great inspiration to see out the year.

24/08/2012

Tonight belonged to Dave "wingman", there's no doubt. He has finished his first 12 week cycle after coming to us in a weakened state after suffering a serious car accident. Dave was worse than untrained only making a 70kg squat, 40kg bench and 60kg deadlift.

Dave has been preparing for his 1RM testing all week and tonight he really brought his A game. He squatted 122.5kg, benched 75kg and deadlifted 150kg. Do the maths people, that's a 177.5kg increase in that 12 week period a phenomenal effort.

Its success stories like Dave's that honestly spur me on the most and this is one of the reasons I decided to dedicate some of my time to coaching guys just like Dave. It's a sensational effort and I know this has inspired him to push even harder.

This story sends a message... it doesn't matter what level of strength you are at we can help you. Don't hesitate to come on down and talk to us or call us - you could be the next Dave "wingman"!

Now onto us commoners that were in tonight:

* Dee - congrats to Dee who benched 50kg on Wednesday night in a 1RM test. She is getting stronger and stronger every week. She's on a a lighter load this week and will get back into the heavy stuff next week.

* Matt "Whitey" - Lost his grove a bit last week but seems to be back on track.

* Jack - An oly lifter preparing for oly novice comp in midland on sunday. Good luck mate!

* Matt "Mafia" - Don't worry mate your ass will be ok! Give it a good rub. ;)

* Bash Brothers - We all know Ricky is a freak and a great mentor for his brother Johnny. Speaking of which Johnny is really making great progress on is lifts.

* Dave "wingman" - Ive said enough about Winger but Ill say it one more time.... great work mate!! BOOOOOMMM!

* Perry - On a 210kg deadlift PPP but tonight he was hot so I took advantage and loaded the bar up. He got to 220kg for a single... I always knew the 210kg PPP was too light for him. Great work Perry!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9X16YMDmC0

* Josh "The Machine" - Came in to rehab his niggling shoulder. Was great tonight to help encourage the boys on their lifts. Josh is always a supportive guy to have around.

* Ando "Mr Bench" - Looks like Ando has taken the plunge and started squatting tonight, only with 60kg but it looked light for him. Next week he will start a solid program to set him on the right path.

* Dan "danimal" - Deadlift PPP up to 195kg.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D93Ztyf9Ba8

* Dan "shanks" - Deadlift PPP up to 260kg.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSq_8U_B2qM

Great night... well done all! Member challenge night tomorrow night which should be interesting. Its closed door to members only sorry!

... Dan
