CAPO National titles

Nick has done 300kg, pretty sure Kelly has missed 300kg.

Max has 340kg in him right now, no question.

Its not worth risking an injury so close to the Nats/Worlds on an assistance exercise.

For the record, most lifters pull less on the rack than from the floor. You get no momentum in the rack, the bar coming off the floor allows lifters to use speed through their weakest point, the lock out.

No different to bench squats. Last time we did them, Max pretty much used the most weight. Again, no momentum. Most struggle to match their regular squat.

It was only 4 x bw, he weighed 78kg this morning

This lift doesnt mean he will pull 300kg, it just means that any weight that gets to his knee, is smoked.

I've watched Kelly pull 257.5kg to within a couple of inches from lockout in successive weeks. If he had Max's lockout, he could pull over 270-280kg @ 80kg.

Max has worked so hard on his deadlift because he recognizes its the lift that will win or lose a comp for you. He is so confident he can pull whatever he needs to win.

Squats set up big totals, deadlifts win comps, benches are simply a lie down for a rest between lifts.

The current WR is 210kg (82.5kg 18-19yo). Max is extremely confident he can pull 230kg tonight, so if someone is in front going into the deadlift, it better be a big lead.

In the last week Greg has squatted 275 x 3 with just wraps and a belt, benched 185 x 2 and deadlifted 275 x 3 from memory, maybe more.

Peter Upham of Shire Speed & Strength will be hosting a novice comp in Sydney in October. As soon as I know definitely, I will start a thread.

Its sad that CAPO doesnt have any presence in Sydney, hopefully this will change.

I think powerlifting is experiencing a ressurgance, its important that every federation does everything it can to capitalize on it.

If PA does indeed add raw classes, that will be a massive boost to the sport.

Good to hear Frank.

Tonight Kelly benched 152.5kg paused and deadlifted 257.5kg.....finally....@80kg

Fat Dave benched 112.5kg and Max benched 105kg.

Everything is going smoothly so far

Hit some openers this morning with Advan and 180sx_kid. I didnt go as well with the squat as I had hoped.

Squat open is 140kg. Done this for 2 singles as the first one was slow.
Bench open is 105kg. Done this for 2 singles just to be safe.
Dead open is 210kg. Had a crack at 220kg, but only got to my knees. Thats the first time ive EVER failed a dead that has come off the ground.

Im putting my shit squat/dead down to the fact that my back is FRIED from fridays session. Also the fact that its the 2nd time EVER that ive lifted in the am.

Looking forward to a week off. My back is feeling a little punished now.
