I have crap military press.
If I get to 5 and fail, I rack, shake my arms, then pick the bar back up all within 5-10 seconds.
I'd rather push out all 8 from dead stop.

You could have possible thoracic outlet issues. Restricting nerve impulses due to the position you are in. It would explain a lot of the failing, shaking out your arms and getting back 3 more reps.

Not sure if it's a good idea or not, but when I fail on military press i pushpress out the remaining reps. Eg instead of 3x8, can only get out 8,7,5 then i pushpress another 1 and 3 in the 2nd and 3rd sets to complete it.
Just thinking it might help someone else who has a crap military press like me
