I have crap military press.
If I get to 5 and fail, I rack, shake my arms, then pick the bar back up all within 5-10 seconds.
I'd rather push out all 8 from dead stop.

You could have possible thoracic outlet issues. Restricting nerve impulses due to the position you are in. It would explain a lot of the failing, shaking out your arms and getting back 3 more reps.

Edit: I don't have the tingling symptoms or pain. I do have fused vertibrae from a motorbike accident.

If you're going to push press the reps you can't strict press, I'd take a note of that and keep the same weight until you can get them all strict.

I'd wanna be struggling by the 8th rep, but definately all strict.

Besides, if you have to push out the last reps, isn't that crossing over into crossfit? Bahahahaha

Cool that just answered the question I was about to ask...

I only add weight next session if I completed the full sets the previous workout
