you clearly ignored this bit ""Louisiana was the only state with the most gun violence where firearm-related suicides accounted for less than half of all gun deaths. In fact, homicides accounted for roughly 51% of all gun deaths in the state. As a result, Louisiana had the highest gun-related homicide rate in the country, at 9.7 murders per 100,000 residents. L"

your response doesnt begin to explain what i asked.

and why are you a member of the NRA, are you an american living in aus??

Nope, I'm an Aussie who believes in the inherent right to self defence and the US' Bill of Rights / Constitution and its limiting effect on federal government. Unfortunately if gun control ever gets in there, it affects here negatively as well. If anything the relentless demonization of guns and continued attempts to make it more and more onerous for law abiding firearm owners in Australia gives 2nd Amendment activists lots of ammo to advocate their cause, whether it's bans on firearm appearance, bans on Airsoft, Police Commissioners arbitrarily banning certain firearms by name, media created hysteria from lobby groups over lever action shotguns etc etc etc.

Congress is so divided among partisan lines that Democrats will vote against Republican led bills for gun control. Democrats advocate for ineffectual measures such as banning certain firearms and removing due process so the Republicans will always vote against.

I like that the NRA is militant and hyperbolic like the other side, and is a lot more forthright in sticking up for shooters vs certain Australian shooting organisations (which I'm also a member of several). I also like the magazine. I'm not an American either.

DC is the highest according to the 2014 FBI table that I linked in my previous post, unfortunately there's no ability to sort via rate per 100000 though.

Have a look at poverty rates vs firearm homicides as well https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_by_poverty_rate

and fyi a knife is infinantly better in self deffence than a gun, so if it was truely about protecting yourself you would be more into knives, like i am.

So we have had the shootings, let's ban guns.

After today's events let's ban trucks?

Yeah.

Planes too!

And Cars! Cars transport Terrorists to the scene of their shootings. And clothes! Clothes are used to conceal weapons. And bags!!!!

Good point Barry!

You know it's illegal to carry knives for self defence here right? That's also well and good for a fit young bloke, what about an old person, or a woman? I don't own a single firearm to defend myself, nor do I carry anything to do so.

Yes i know they are illigal unless valid reason. a gun isnt going to do shit for an old lady. just pointing out if this was all about protection you would be advocating for the carrying of knives not guns.

if me and you were in argument you with a pistol me with a knife, would be able to draw and fucking skin you alive before you could draw and shoot.

talk about bozo's logical fallacys coming from baza

Thought you were ignoring me.

Care to name which logical fallacy/s? I know it. Do you?

In the end I was just trying to get a rise of of those that couldn't work out I was being sarcastic.

Too many variables to say. I'm no Jerry Miculek, but chances are if you'd brought a knife to a gunfight you'd be shot before you got close enough to use it.

It's well known that <21 feet knives are the superior self defence item.

I believe that self defence is an inherent human right and anyone who wants to should be allowed to carry a knife, mace etc. As it is you can't carry anything in Australia for self defence, it has to be sheer luck that you might have something on hand.

I also find it ironic that the same 'logic' is applied to lockout laws as gun control, yet people fail to see the link.

way to contradict yourself. knives are superior under 20 feet but in the scenario i said i would likely get shot? jees you talk crap mate.

You really think that if concealed carry were legal, that people would 1) just carry a pistol, 2) wouldn't be trained to use said pistol, which includes recognizing when it's a potential danger to draw? Anyway this is way off topic.

its not way off topic. knives are far more dangerous in up close and confined spaces, which constitutes most self defence scenarios. you would stan no chance vs someone who knows how to use a blade, end of.

so if it was really about self defence you would be advocating knives not guns, but guess that doesnt do as much for your ego does it?
