Boonie wasn't a great, but what he taught us was grit. Fook me, any kunce who can drink 52 Cans then back up playing international Cricket has my admiration. :D

@Gerry ; yep, Dean Jones could destroy an attack in One Dayers. Then something happened to him and he just fell off the scene real quick. But at his best, one of the greatest One Day Batsmen of all time.

I grew up watching Aussie teams closely around that era.We played them regularly through out the 80s,however as soon as Hadlee retired we struggled to be competitive anymore.
Then Warne and McGrath as the maturing of the Aussie top order made the Aussies pretty much unbeatable. It seemed as soon as someone retired there was someone younger and meaner ready to take over.

Dean Jones pretty much had a falling out with the selector and was very outspoken towards the end and they basically dropped him never to been seen again....

i just checked Dean Jones strike rate and it was "only" 72.jeez i remember him as a fast scorer.now it looks like im exaggerating.Viv richards is around 90 i think.
Its funny that i remember him as being the man,but when you look at the strike rate its ok.Perhaps this is a case of an innings or two that he played vs NZ that stays in the memory where he crashed it around.I think it was in 1990 he played 1 real great one day innings that won a final (i think?)

Sometimes its a sample that makes you define someones overall play.

I do think it was harder to score faster back then anyway.

He was playing in the days where 220-240 was considered a good score.. strike rate would be about right then

Mitch greater than Shane by a long way.
His technique leaves Watson's for dead.
He should be playing as a genuine all rounder not Watson. Watson was ordinary yesterday and if not dropped would not have made a 50.

..same goes for harris.

Yep. Watson's falls across his crease or hits across the line far too often. He missed a fair dinkum straight ball and got done LBW. Hit straight fuarrken

these indians arent as good away from home compared to their own backyard.not saying they arent a good team, they have some outstanding players.
