I've only been to Japan & Thailand & they are polar opposites but I love both Depends what you're looking for I guess. Thailand is crazy cheap but Japan is still cheaper than Australia food/drinks/travel wise. Only thing that is really expensive is middle of the city rent but that's the same in all developed countries I guess.
