I probably need to get a gym specific pair of shoes soonish.
Being 6'4, is it better for me to have a smaller sole?

I don't think you have much choice with sole size dude? When you say gym specific..you wouldn't deadlift in squat shoes.....
 
I meant sole thickness. Isn't the idea that mechanically it's better to be closer the ground for most movements.
@Repacked; are squat shoes designed with heel? So quads activate better?

Aha gotcha. For DL yeah, you want to be as close to the ground as possible. Any 'sponge' in a shoes sole will absorb energy in any movement. It's not about quad activation, it's about improving your geometry for the movement.

I have the InoV8's. Love them, over a year old and still seem brand new.
Black and red too so they look alright.
