If 5x5 is a peice of piss your weights are too light.
Try 5x5 with no more than 30 secs rest between sets and see how strong the piss can be.

I will gladly do 5x5 with squats.. I do i prefer it over 3x10 I find it easier. Especially over 20.

I am doing it with enough weight any more and i fail at the first 5 reps.

yea i was the one talking about FDFS...

alright, thanks for making it clear now.
what I understand now is that, before I can expect any size or muscle tone, I need to get a hell of a lot stronger on the compound and basic lifts.... and that's done by hitting the gym 3 times a week, doing a program like below:

Squat 3 x 10
Bench press 3 x 8
Bent row 3 x 8
Military press 3 x 8
SLDL 3 x 8
BB curl 3 x 8

and increasing the weight each session.
Excuse my noob syndrome... some of the stuff the appears common sense to others might not be so obvious to me. e.g 5x5 vs. a simple program like above.

I would not do the BB curls. If you want another exercise perform 3 sets of calf raise.

"bench 100kg, squat 140kg and deadlift 180kg"

Are all these 1rm's?

Markos can i do this routine but keep my breathing squats? (1x20 1x15)

I should i treat that routine as gospel and do it as is?

No rules when your training as smart as you are.

As long as lifters are busting their ass on basic movements ONLY, the rep set scheme can be easily manipulated.

Your training is excellent, adding another set of breathing squats will just make it better, if you can handle it.

Max has been doing these exclusively since he squatted 156kg at BATB3.

On Monday he squatted a very easy 160kg, without once going over 130kg for a month.

He is getting close to 250% x bodyweight.

Twenty rep breathing squats are the real deal.
