Kristos broke the all time squat and deadlift record at 67.5kg

Fuzzy, the GPC Constitution says,
"The use of performance enhancing Drugs is not allowed and testing will be carried out as deemed necessary and absolutely required by the Nation hosting events. Testing will be for [sic] the expense of the host Nation. The Global Powerlifting Committee Ltd will take whatever action deemed suitable against those athletes showing positive test results."

GPC Australia is actually supposed to be a tested federation just as PA is. Now, they may choose not to bother with this because of the expense and other reasons, but that's in the constitution.
.

It's pleasing to see the use of PED would be unconstitutional in the GPC, but what is the penalty for breaching the constitution? The members might be able to crack the shits and mount a challenge to force compliance if they cared?

If you want to use drugs or if its not a concern to you, then lift with any other fed. It's your choice.

But, and here's the rub, if you choose to lift in a non tested fed, then automatically you are a "non drug tested lifter". For all intents and purposes, you are not a drug free lifter, cos you aren't tested. Even if you don't take "da juice", you are still a non tested lifter. Any and all records cannot then eclipse a tested lifter. You cannot be a non tested lifter and be "all time world record holder". You can only be a "all time world record holder in a non tested federation".

Amen to that. It really is a binary system.

I think Fuzzy stated that the constitution's reference to clean lifting is just window dressing. Do you think GPC wants to be clean?

if some civil case went ahead, I'm pretty sure a court of law would deem ASADA's list or similar, as being what "a reasonable person" would deem as performance enhancing, would be used to determine if you or anyone else had breached the constitution.

See the issue is that it's not against the rules of the competition but against the constitution of GPC. So it would be like Zahir saying "FUCK FINLAND". He still won the competition but he broke the constitution and got banned

but wouldn't a requirement of membership in GPC be to adhere to its constitution? You have to be a member to compete in GPC don't you?

Yeah but it's not against the rules of the competition which is what is being discussed.

Federation rhetoric and the federation itself are two different things.
Naturally.

But the rules are the rules.

Going to kick out some GPC lifters, now? Or invite the PA guy back?

The thought of testers showing up at a GPC meet is... amusing.

Isn't Sticky; the Vice President of GPC?. Perhaps he can enlighten us on this anomaly.

Sticky, why does the GPC constitution state that its a clean Federation but lifters who are openly geared are allowed to compete? Thanks :)

Holy fuck, what a freak. That lift @ 67.5, depth was solid too.

I'm gobsmacked. That is epic. He was giving it everything he had.

Who is this kid, this your protege Fuzzy; kudos to you man if he can stay unbroken he'll end up a world beater.

Pity powerlifting don't pay like other sports, but I suppose the kids gotta follow his heart

Kristos would C+J 160 at this point if he had decided to do WL for sure
Disappointing that idiots decided to side track this achievement

Especially from the idiots who don't even participate in powerlifting but bag it out every chance...

...couldn't agree more - awesome effort. Mind blowing to see someone do this at 19. Top effort.

That argument is bullshit anyway. All the main sports have people giving their opinions, positive or negative, that have never played it.

Spectators in every main sports have their opinion listened to without people saying that because they didn't play their opinion doesn't matter.

Wasn't aimed at you, but Bazza some people bag it out continually just to troll here...this was a serious thread about a strong kid and got derailed on the first page...

Would be like some young footy player earning a place on a top team and people going on about the Essendon scandle

Nonsense. Not looking like that he wouldn't. He would also have to squat 220+ raw and deep (no wraps, no belt). Not going to happen anytime soon unless he radically changes his training and probably gets a bit chunkier around the middle.

Its like saying he would run 100m in 10 flat if he decided to track and field.

yes dicko, it got sidetracked first post when guru said it was an all-time record. Great lit, but it is merely a GPC record. You will not see it on any other federation record sheet.

Now guru assumes he would have clean and jerked 160kg.
