Ok, you asked for it sookie..
First few hours I hated it, MUCH prefer (and still do) black ops. My (detailed) thoughts are below:
- The unlock system is pretty gay. Especially the weapon proficiencies. Before the game came out, they were saying the more you use a weapon, the better it becomes. Thats bullshit. Effectively, all that happens is you unlock extra attachments. A proficiency is effectively just an attachment to the weapon, you can only have one at a time and it improves the weapon slightly in one way. Its not like the more you play, the less kick the weapon has. Just that you can CHOOSE whether you want less kick, or better range, or 2 attachments instead of 1 etc etc.
- Survival mode isn't that great, I think zombies was better. That said, it is still probably the only good thing about the game. Again though, rather than pay more money for better items, you just need to KEEP playing it to have access to better weapons. This is backwards, it should be so that the longer you last in a game, the more money you have, the better weapons you can buy. And the upgrades should actually UPGRADE the guns, not just be a red dot sight or underattachment.
- Perks are underpowered. Basically they don't do shit. This doesn't really matter per se, but I'm used to black ops where almost all the perks were attractive. Now its a choice between a douche and a turd. eg Ghost is now split into two perks, Sleight of Hand is now split into two perks, scavenger no longer replenishes grenades (which sucks as its pretty much the only useful first tier perk with the weakening in Sleight of Hand).
- I don't like the killstreak system. The decent assault killstreaks take WAY too many kills to get. Killstreaks chain, sure, but none of the lower level killstreaks seem to get you more than 1 or 2 kills (at least so far, in my experience). I've earnt the strafe run several times (9 kill streak), and it hasn't got me ONE kill yet!!! WTF. Even the attack helicopter has only scrapped up a few kills. The little bird guard is better, but has got me about 3 at best. The AC130 is nowhere near as good as the chopper gun, but requires 12 kills. I think I've gotten the most kills out of a sentry gun, but still not many. Basically, they have watered down the aggressive killstreaks, they are nowhere near as powerful as in black ops. Not to mention the inclusion of EMP which knocks out any killstreaks. Some particular killstreak gripes are below:
- Advanced UAV (12 kills). What a shit killstreak. It seems to be good at first, until you realise that assasin makes you immune to it. And once people level up, it is going to be a very popular perk. Not only that, but its not real time like the blackbird, it sweeps like a UAV. So basically, it is just a UAV, but with arrows (and it can't be shot down I guess). But for 12 kills?? Hardly worth it.
- Escort airdrop (18 kills). It takes a bit over a minute to drop the care packages, by which time the match is usually close to over. But the worst part, it CAN be shot down and an EMP can get rid of it entirely = waste of 18 kills.
So those are my thoughts. My K/D is pretty shit too, only about 1.7 or so. Without being able to rake in the kills with killstreaks, its far harder to do better. Plus most of the people playing have been pretty good I've found, not surprising I guess as all the huge CoD fans would be getting the game straight away and playing it heaps in the first few weeks.
Went back to black ops last night and first few games went 33-4 and 39-5 lol. I think I'll stick with black ops....
