BN's Casein Hydrolysates

Just to add further to my above post, Humapro protein is 5 times stronger than normal protein, so 50 grams is equiv to about 220 of wpi/c etc has a higher bio as well. Not the best for bulking but for dieting it is good, for some reason it is expensive here, well over double US price. To expensive but an option if you have the dollars. Another option is Hemp protein…..

Hemp protein? From the plant?

Would that be like rice protein?

Azza, there is some very iffy research involved in the promotion of this product.
For someone to suggest after reading it that it is 5 times stronger is a bit of a worry.
As Staunch has pointed out, whey has a near perfect biological value so anything can only be merginally better from there.

If anyone is after an essential amino acid blend, we have developed Recover X that is much more pure than Humapro (Recover x is 98% aminos to Humapro's 75%), it is Australian made and is priced much better.

Whether these are good value for money compared to whey is an arguement in itself, but if you are looking for value amoongst these products, Recover X is a market leader.

Regarding Hydrolysed Casein.
Anyone who is considering this product, this is very different to regular Casein, any substance that is hydrolysed will dramatically change the nature in which it is absorbed, and with casein this is particularly so.

Hydrolysed Casein will be absorbed in a similar manner to hydrolysed wpi, the benefit here is that has a different amino acid profile as well as less lactose and fat than even hydrolysed WPI.

Here is a link to a brief which shows it outperforming WPI for muscle retention, Effect of a hypocaloric diet, increased protein in... [Ann Nutr Metab. 2000] - PubMed result saying that, there is also at least one study which shows it performing worse than a non hydrolysed whey.

In terms of price, the Bulk Nutrients product is very well priced compared to other hydrolysed caseins, however from a $ per $ perspective, hydro proteins don't offer near the value of wheys.

Taste is atrocious, like any properly hydrolysed whey, in fact it is worse. We are thinking about not even offering ours in flavoured form as the flavouring does very little to mask the taste!
Definitely one for the hard core!
