Yeah I'm 196cm. Ideal weight for myself would be around 120ish. My goal for bench this year was 130 and this give a theoretical max of 133 so that's pretty good. I'm thinking Bench goal for next year would be 150

    Anyone for a Meat Mountain?

Sure it's got about 350g of meat. But without any mention of sauces or anything else to balance out the flavour I recon it would be a little bland.

Hugh Jackman is at it again - deadlifting 396lbs

To be fair on this one, the video I saw had him doing 4 reps at 180kg which is certainly better than a 180kg 1rm

    Malaysian plane shot down

Ok @bazza I'll leave it with this final thought. What you have referred to sounds like basic genetic decay. Random changes to individual "letters" in genetic code which in most cases result in no functional change in the organism, in other cases you end up with destructive variation such as...

    Malaysian plane shot down

How is the point wrong @bazza? What is the mutation process you are referring to that results in a gain of new information

    Malaysian plane shot down

Hey bazza, not disputing that genetic mutations happen all the time, it's just that as observed they result in a loss of information not a gain. As for coal I believe the timescale for coal formation is based on how deep coal is found underground, and because it is so deep it must be really old.

    Malaysian plane shot down

I know that this is continuing off topic but let's address a couple of things first. There are two main forms of science. Operational science which is based upon conclusions from repeated experimentation and historical science which is based upon analysis of evidence and then applying a series...

    Starting strength training

Looks like a pretty standard linear progression program, although personally I would swap the bent over row in workout a with lat pulldowns. In regards to the weight progression, once you have reset around 3-4 times on a program like that you are likely ready for a different progression model...

    Bodyfat and performance

Based on some of the numbers you guys are throwing around I'm thinking there might need to be some adjustment of what bodyfat levels visually look like Eg the below photo, sure he has flexed his abs but this is 13.7% bodyfat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Bodyfat and performance

I would peg a minimum at around 12%. In field events it's very rare to see anyone competitive coming in less than 15%. Also from what I have seen injury risk seems to increase when you hit sub 10%. Most bodybuilding injuries occur when dieting right down for contest prep. This would indicate...

    Bodyfat and performance

Coming from an athletics background where there are no weight classes you certainly see a lot more of people aiming to achieve absolute peak performance you see a lot fewer competitors coming in been extremely lean. So for those with experience, what sort of performance decrease do you usually...

    Bodyfat and performance

Hi all This sort of came up in another thread but to avoid an off topic hijack I'm setting this up to collect people's views. The question is what level of bodyfat is ideal for peak performance in various strength sports eg. Powerlifting, strongman weightlifting, field athletics etc. And...

How To Build More Muscle Using Nearly Any Workout

I remember seeing a Rich Piana video on leg training where he talks about how he doesn't really train legs or focus on them anymore now he is not competing. It then cuts over to him doing a leg session and doing 6ish reps at 180kg squats. Not exactly huge numbers compared to powerlifting but...

The state of the powerlifting/strength forum

One thing I would note with the power lifting/strength forum would be that I see relatively few posts related to the strength side of the forum. I realise that powerlifting as a sport is a main focus here, but there could be a lot of valuable discussion if there was more posts around strength...

    1970's Powerlifters

I did get that, I Spose to be clearer what I was leading towards is the point that the smaller the participation level in a given sport the larger disparity you will get between first a last in the field for a top level event. To give an example. The reason you see such good competition at the...

    1970's Powerlifters

If you took out all the people who compete for fun from any competition, the elite field will suck. For most people I've known it's the competing for fun that actually starts people training enough to be competitive at the higher levels. The other thing to remember is that for every event with a...

Yeah it is right as far as I can tell. I've been doing 3 sets of 10 in my programming and last week rep 10 felt like I could barely get it up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
