Do you support Gay Marriage?

Same sex defactos have nearly all of the same rights as normal couples. More than 120 pieces of legislation have already been amended to address this. Changing the marriage act will not change a thing.

There are about 7 billion people on earth. 6 billion or so live in societies where traditional marriage is valued and the idea of same sex marriage is not mentioned.

The last general social survey in Australia by the ABS showed that about 0.6% of the Australian population lived in same sex relationships. Like heterosexual couples, some of those same sex couples would not seek marriage. So how many people does this "big issue" really affect - it maybe fewer than 5 in 1000. A few western countries choose to change the definition of marriage. So what? We don't have to follow them just because they make a lot of noise. Most of the world's citizens live in societies where this issue doesn't even warrant discussion.

I'm getting a bit tired of mainstream behaviours being labelled as "heteronormative". Hetero is normal.
If it's not a big issue then why do you care so much about it?

There are so many hetrophobics out there. We should start a media campaign to normalise heteros. Also, "heterosexual" may be accurate and descriptive but lets make that "bad" and call ourselves, I dunno, maybe gay? We are happy, after all, not to be wiping the crap of some other male off our happy parts.

There will be no plebiscite on homosexual, gay, fag, dike marriages.
Put the issue to bed now.

The people obsessed with what gay people do in private usually have some unresolved interests themselves. I don't care. Let people marry whoever makes them happy.

im against it.its weird if u are a man to want to suck dong and take it up the butt.so what if it makes them happy.its still weird.gtfo.

as for the opinion that wat they do in privacy doesnt hurt me,well then conversely my opinion of gays doesnt hurt them either.both factions are intolerant.

I dont see why anyone is against it.

Why do you care if they marry?
Why do you care about what they get up to?

You shouldnt care.

Tim.

Im clearly not anonymous online. So i think the answer to that question is very clear.

Your opinion is of course valid along with every one else's.

All i said was, you shouldnt care. what they do or want to do with thier lives is of no concern of mine, or anyone elses.

Tim.

I am neither in support or against and haven't spent much time listening to the arguments from either camp. However as someone who has been in a long term 20+ years heterosexual relationship, and is not and has no plans to get married. What is the big deal either way. Is there a financial or tax benefit to marriage or is this more about needed to have a relationship recognised? I have three kids with my misses, a mortgage and all the baggage than any married couple has and as my common law or defacto she is entitled anyway. So what am I missing here ?
