To the Bodybuilders out there

I use a 4day split which goes

shoulders,traps,triceps
Full back
rest
chest/biceps/forearm
rest
legs
rest
(its dorian yates split but i dont follow his excirces)
I do 20mins of walking incline on training days except leg day where i do 5mins.
Rest days i do 30 mins of walking. I used to do 6days a week but i have made more gains in wieght and looking better too on this split

Is a gardener someone who competes in gardening, or someone who enjoys the recreational aspect of it?

I don't think this topic gets regurgitated often enough lol. Let's make it a weekly series.

5/3/1??? Is that the reps you perform for all the exercises mate or just the compounds?

Was thinking of trying a split like this. Will I see good results???

/snip 6 day split with every iso known to man...

I remember you saying you couldn't afford a diet I posted a while back, of meat, oats, rice, milk, eggs, fruit and nuts, etc. How do you expect to recover MORE effectively by training MORE than what you do now? Seriously, not even Arnold Schwarzenegger preaches 6 day splits for beginners. Give yourself 3-5 years of solid lifting before even contemplating a program like that.

I'm not trying to cut you down, but if you can do that program, with real intensity, consistency and decent recovery for 3 months I will bow down.

Alot of guys have gone through the whole "if I train like a bodybuilder, won't that make me a bodybuilder" thing. I have, I won't deny it. We are trying to save you from making the same mistakes. You just spin your wheels, pumping up muscles you were born with. If you want to build muscle you have to EAT and lift heavy weights. Its as simple as 2-4 exercises per workout, 3x a week.

Constantly changing programs and wanting to magically build a body doing curls won't happen.

Be consistent with your program and diet and you will see results.
Chose either fat loss or muscle building and tailor your diet towards it.

This. I get the biggest lol when I see people like 'I've been doing this strength program for a while I think its time to swap to bodybuilding' like I'm going to be honest - youre benching 2 figures. Teenagers can do that, are they huge? Use bench marks (eg deadlifting 260 or benching 180) points where you'll see your physique changing.

Also there are just some big boo boos I think anyone with experience would have seen in that split - calf raises and 3 days of shoulder work is going to really piss off your joints but you'd have to try them for a period of time to figure that out. Most beginners cant which is what makes splits so fucking useless.

Dunno if anyone has heard of Scott Goble, but basically he's a body builder that trains at Spartan's gym in Kilsyth (Victoria).
I remember chatting to him not long after I first started, because I was getting nowhere on some Mens Health 21 million arm exercises, calves get their own day type of routine. He basically said that until you've spent a couple of years getting strong you should stick with full body or at worst upper/lower before moving into a 'bodybuilder' split.
Never really asked him what his program was but I know his back workout was deadlifts, wide grip chins and DB row. Deadlifts were with 200kg+ for 8 reps and DB rows were with just about the biggest DB in the gym
Add to that, all the guys I know that look like Body builders deadlift 200+ for reps and could squat a truck, and I think it's pretty obvious you need to be strong first to be big later

Hey hey. I bench 2 figures hahahaha

But yeah, Mick pretty much just wants to be ripped. And that's 80% diet and 20% training. Give him 3-6 months and he will realise that getting stronger is the key.

i dont believe that strength is associated with size. you can say bench 180, but that will take 10 years for most. you cant tell people wanting aesthetic goals to go bench 150-180.

i can bench more that most the guys my age, but some are bigger than me, even with their 70kg 3x10.

chase the pump. sarcoplasmic hypertrophy.

Surely the more weight you pump the more beneficial it's going to be?

Lol. Just sayin, one would imagine that the greater the load on the body, the greater the strain, and the greater the hormonal release for recovery. Therefore, in theory, greater muscle growth

Thanks mate would appreciate it. I need to have a talk to the owner of my gum. He competes and will have some great programs. I really want the bodybuilder look but have no interest in competing.

My program should be during the week as I rarely can make the gym on weekends. Thanks for the help again

Are you guys taking the piss or what?

This is very funny.
