I agree that neither is impressive but 5 min ks equates to about 70kg bench imo. Beginner should get there in weeks. Is it? Neither are impressive. I'm trying to think what is more impressive.
If i sat on the couch and ate pizza and hot dogs for 6 months with no training I could bench 100 day 1 but I doubt I could do 5 min ks.
Lingerie football is the least boring
In the olympics, swimming is popular because any phlaggot can swim plus its easy.
My little one is a national level swimmer, the training is 5am to 7am, minimum 5 days a week and sometimes weekends. Then from 6pm to 8pm, 4 nights a week. The laps are gruelling and the endurance these kids have is amazing. Couldn't imagine a a fat, goateed, bald power lifter lasting one of these training sessions without drowning.

swimming is a very difficult and competitive sport, which makes it very hard to excel.
in contrast, the sport of powerlifting has very few competitors.
as for training hard, totally different approaches, but I would say swimming is far more painful and time consuming.
Especially chasing times, arms weigh a ton, shoulders ache and lungs scream.
These friggin QLD kids are like torpedos, our Vic kids always chasing them.
