If you look at an exercise in terms of most muscle used or stimulated or both, knowing that both the largest group and number of muscles are in fact in the back, then the machine pullover becomes a very important exercise for this reason alone.

And although, this is my opinion, the dip still requires the use of the back, the pullover by its sheer design, works the upper and lower torso through an incredible range of motion, whilst still using to a degree, the abs, pecs, biceps, triceps.

Machine Pullover for the win.

If you are a member of a fitness first, use the pullover, but use it properly for best results.
It's the second best exercise there next to the squat rack, which both are normally unused, or not used properly.

How many pieces of Nautilus equipment have you collected now Goose?
Always drive past this place on Grand Junction Rd, has a dodgy old sign on a pole out the front, Barry's Health Club with the Nautilus sign underneath, kinda weird, its just a normal looking house.

Sounds dodgy.

My old fitness first had a machine pullover, but the current one, despite being the biggest in qld, doesn't have it :<

I'd say the muscle up but that is sort of cheating as it is a pullup and a dip in one. And the fact that not many people can actually do them is a bit pointless in the discussion also.

This machine you are talking about sounds the goods goosey except for the shoulder impingement part. That shit scares me :p

So of the normal exercises, I'd say pullups/chinups over dips but really you should do both anyway :)

Actually i take that back,

nautilus pull over machine

done properly it is above all.
