talking about a layoff so long you wouldnt know ive ever been to the gym to look at me! but have muscle memory and know how to train, thats the key. ive had more comebacks than the rolling stones

and i dont think heavy is the way forward, need to get all your muscles firing. if you go heavy from the get go just wind up with bad form and injuries, which done before

The stones never did a comeback.
john farmhand on the other hand....

think your the one confused, you were just talking about going heavy. heavy is a measure of weight..
Oh save me Jeebus.

Ok what I mean is this.
Let's say you choose a rep range. We'll go for 10 but it can be 12, 8, 6 or 15. Whatever.
I'm suggesting go heavy so you approach failure on the 10th rep, therefore you are going heavy for the rep range of 10 but like I said it can be whatever rep range you want.
Or do you just want to do 10 reps easy (or whatever rep range you chose), therefore it is light because you are stopping well short of failure.

I cannot explain it any other way.FFS

Failure on 10th rep prolly isn't excessively heavy for most.

But I don't like arguing on internet forums.

I'm talking about doing the work shrek, like 2 sets of 12 and 2 sets of 10 for an exercise rather than 4 sets of 5 reps
thats all I'm saying, no need to get scientologically tactical about, it's that simple

When coming back I like to start off at weighs I can complete pretty easy for the reps I want to do.

Take it easy with weights and overall volume but train often. After the first few weeks start ramping things up harder.

I think it is much more risk for the seasoned trainer coming back than a newby starting out. When you come back after a lay off you are untrained but still heaps stronger than the newby, so have more chance of tweaking something.

this.

plus you got to keep the ego in check. hard to go back to the light weights when you knew what you used to lift, so you desperately push ahead trying to get back there then hurt yourself.

think its easier as you get older to sit and lift girly weights again and not care

I think a break in period is needed regardless as to whether you're a beginner or not, I think that period depends on your skill and level of conditioning, it's pretty simple.
