Stop it Gauche or you'll go blind :D!

Funnily enough, male and female swimmers were separated when I was at the AIS due to some “energy sapping activities”. With us weightlifters, we had all the basketballers males as well as females staying at the same complex. Me being 7 feet tall as you know, was always looking up to those gorgeous ladies! Mmmm, them were the days :p!

For beginners, I think a supplement drink called Discipline and a protein bar labeled Cement should be sufficient.

I took my first protein shake after 24 years of training and my creatine and beta alanine after 29 years. Before that it was nothing but food and for the first 3 1/2 years of training nothing but barbells/dumbells and own bodyweight.

I think I'd pass Dancelot's set out criterion would you not agree!

Before that you lived solely on WMD.
Will,motivation and desire!

Yes Zarkov, you could really say that my friend. It did not occur to me once to even think of supplementing my food intake; not even with a vitamin pill. Although I was supplied with them, (and egg protein powder) freely at the AIS--(I gave them away). That was me and I'm sure others may feel the need to supplement an otherwise less then optimum eating/training regime. I respect their choice to do so as I myself do use supplements these days (at nearly 45).

But the novice bodybuilder as I’ve said before is really concerned about which creatine is best and which NO-Xplode this or Blow-UP that that is going to give him or her that bodybuilding edge. I say relax and listen to the ones who have paid their dues and I repeat and say, don’t pay money, just pay attention; it’ll be much more profitable in the long run.

Great quote and something I think every beginner or novice should hear and listen to.

My rule for supplements is this:

1. Protein powder
2. Creatine monohydrate
3. Multi vitimin
4. Fish oil
5. Amino acid supplementation

If its not on this list i dont take it.

It's easy as a novice to get sucked into thinking all these supplements etc are the key, when like most things, it requires you to get the basic right first...ie no quick fixes! Sage words Fadi.

when it comes to supplementation, for me it comes down to one. Whey. As a natural athlete i figure that my body will produce enough amino acids lecine, glutamine, creatine...) that I need from my diet. I get enough vitamins from the top quality foods that I eat.

i don't worry about fish oil tablets, cine I eat enough fish like tuna, sordfish ect throughout the week. Each to their own tho
