The sport, at least I know with the AFL Anzac day games, makes money for the ANZAC DAY Proceeds Trust which provides support to vets and their families. The other thing to remember is that a number of sportsman died during the war (about 90 VFL players), so between raising awareness for ANZAC Day, honouring the servicemen and making money for the Vets and RSLs etc, I can’t see anything wrong at all the sporting organisations in particular are doing wrong in making a day of it.
