It's worth noting that he wrote that in 2009 and some things have changed since.

What do you mean by applaud them , being sarcastic? Or something I'm missing?

From a buisness sense. The more douche gyms there are out there such as crossfit/commercial gyms the better it is for say a PTC.

It makes it so much easier to show people how long they have had the wool caste over their eyes and all your just doing is putting them on linear progression to get results.
Which was all know is better than WOD's

Some crossfit gyms do do linear programs you know, it's getting rarer though. But it's just hiit work for conditioning which your guys are doing as well.

It started out the same as PTC and thats why I have a soft spot for it, even though majority of it is junk now. It was one guy training in a garage. Neighbors and friends came to train in the garage too. One of the guys moved to another area so started doing the same kinda training in his garage.

PTC could turn out the same if it gets commercialised and / or gets a big sponsor. I guess if it's a franchise model as opposed to an affiliate model, it protects this a bit.

Crossfit and strength can live together in harmony......since crossfit is only conditioning......

yeas im aware wingy.. Ive read the history of xfitt and i am using it to learn what to do and not with PTC moving forward. Its a shame it started with good intentions.

PTC values will always hold true imo as we are/always am affiliated with powerlifting.
The ultimate show of strength is PL/Oy lifting.

It will always be Strength then followed by conditioning. Not a mixture of the 2 together at PTC.

Whether you like crossfit or not, this story is pretty cool. He was a track athlete / footballer in highschool. He let go afterwards and started to get fat. Then he dealt with the pain of losing his father and decided to get off his ass and do something about his wellbeing.

So what would you do differently Trent?

Personally:
1) They care about the 10 components of fitness (cardiovascular endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, agility, coordination, balance, accuracy) equally. They're all important for wellbeing, but a big premium / priority should be on strength. Not only for powerlifters, for any sport or physical occupation (military, police, etc).

2) Have a franchise model instead of an affiliate model. To become an affiliate you have to write an essay (an interview would be better, but baseed on there being 3000 of them this is a bit tricky). Under an affiliate model, they can do whatever they like - there's no rules whatsover governing where/how they run their gym, what they do in it etc. Under a franchise model, presumably this would be different.

1. Its impossible to be find a balance with all the 10 mods u see above and still be considered elite. Your basically just a jack of all trades and master of none.

The structure PTC needs to survive will always favour strength first.
We all know it carries over into other sports/everyday life as it is the foundation. The problem with having strength alone is u are missing the (cardiovascular/speed). Theres no use being a fireman if u cant run with a heavy hose up and down steps without having to stop for air.

Throw in some conditioning with that strength and u have a person who is strong and explosive off the mark yet can last a reasonable distance

This is what PTC is about and markos drives this alot in his gyms for this model to work. We dont pretend to be a master of all trades. We focus on what we are good at and that is building strong/explosive humans.

I tell marathon runners who enquire about the gym that i cannot train them. They should just go run around the park alot anything.

2. There is no formal agreement when u bu a PTC franchise that u have to do so and so. But who knows how PTC will look down the track as more open. We have had 3 open up now in the space of a year. Not huge compared to 24 hour gyms. But i dont think anybody has said a negative thing about PTC's in general.
