There is a steel supplier of Barry st Bayswater, but any steel supplier has this, some are reluctant to cut down stock, but from memory this bloke had some surplus.

Two ways you can do this, steel tube is 48.3mm OD, steel rod (solid) is 50mm perfect for Olympic plates but quite heavy, I have both.

I bought threaded rod from bunnings in the plumbing section, the nuts they have, but it is wise to go to bayswater bolts and also buy four nylock bolts...two for the top of the handle and two for the bottom.

I took my handle to an engineering company to mark the knurling on the handle, most lathes have a knurling wheel. Tell them to make the knurling deep.
Did you have any problems drilling through the 50mm solid steel rod?

eleiko PL comp bar
MM adjustable squat stands
MM flat bench
157.5kg of IE bumpers/micro plates

on its way;
MM commercial flat bench
2 rubber mats (lol 2)

also at some stage i might be buying a 335kg bumper set;
4 25 schnell (spelling?)
4 25 useaka
2 20 useaka
2 20,pair 15, pair 10 eleiko
and eleiko collars

it will come down to whether or not i want to keep saving for my car, or spend my car money (lol) and buy the set second hand and never have to spend a dime on weight in my gym again.... fkn decisions

if i end up buying that ill sell my IE set as it wont be needed lol

lol $5000 Eleiko platform vs $300 from bunnings :p

That said I wouldn't hold it against someone who wants all Eleiko gear (bit like Mick with his Samson stuff).
Just sucks for them that they have expensive taste :p

as i said, not useless. just overkill hahaha
also the eleiko platform will look much prettier then a homemade one

yeah, he has a similar one in his garage, basically a layer of yellow tongue sheets and something else (?) and carpet over the top lol
