Turkish Getups

Do any of you do turkish getups?

If so what variety do you do, eg kettlebells, barbell, sandbags, etc? And how many reps and at what kinda weight?

When I did my kettlebell cert we were given coaching cues on the TGU, and the instructor did one with a 65kg woman in the group.

12kg kettle. im not great at these on one side coz of my shitty wrist, but i really like them!

barbell version adds a lot more than weight, as have to keep it steady and balanced too which i'm not very good at

Due to my shoulder injuries / mobility, can only do about 16kg kettlebell.

So my question is, if im on a linear progression, where/how can i fit these in? Being that their fairly simple I doubt they'd interrupt much else?

personally, I've used them in place of ab work

Pointless depends on what you're goals are!

They are a great core exercise as well as utilising balance (single leg stability) and depending on weight & reps can be used for a variety of purposes. Can tell you now that lighter weight for a good amount of reps is a great metabolic finisher.

One of the hardest workouts I've done was:
21 TGU right
21 right arm KB swings
21 left arm KB swings
21 TGU left

Did it with a 16kg KB and was destroyed afterwards.

TGU's are primarily for shoulder strengthening. I first came across these in boxing, used for conditioning and building fighters shoulders.

Does no one here want to be fit as well as strong? Complain about boring steady state cardio & when a valid alternative comes along that will FUCK you up & can be done in minimal time, it is written off as useless. Seems strange to me.
