@Darkoz dont start throwing symantics about, racism is why people don't want immigrants coming here. hence most non racist people dont give a fuck

There isn't an outrage about immigration, the traditional immigrants followed a process, they applied, got screened, got accepted, most landed a job as soon as they got here, some had a job waiting. Unemployment was very low, so soon they bought houses, sure they brought their dry sausages and pickled cucumbers with too much garlic with them, but they blended in and contributed quite quickly.

People, including these very immigrants frown at financial refugees that pay thousands to smugglers.
The moment that boat sails it is costing Australia, for the navy to fish them out, from that moment on we pay for their clothes, roof, food, medical, processing and everything else they need to stay alive.
No one knows who they are, what they bring, what their intentions are or what skills they have to contribute.
Until that is validated, the Govt is up for every single dollar it costs to keep these people alive until a rational decision can be made. It is a substantial drain on the system.

So its not really about which race they are, this isn't racism, they see it as the same rules for everyone.

but your now throwing economic factors into the mix. think those immigrants from 50yrs ago would still meet the same conditions? nope!

Our financial position isn't the same, hence controls to suit the situations are needed, so are different skillsets required, they were fit and suitable for what the country required at the time and were invited in to stay.

As many as my tax dollars support. I'd much rather the money go towards someone starting a new life than meth, the pokies and an Australian flag used as a cape.

Come on steve, how about being a pro active social warrior and what better way than putting your money where your mouth is so to speak.

Why are you surprised, it's simply asking of them the same that we ask of ourselves, or would you rather a different set of rules for each group in Australia.

Special rules create isolation, for true fairness same rules need to apply to all.

So given that white fellas are the original immigrants why shouldn't we do the right thing and adopt the culture of the earlier inhabitants of this country who we refused to assimilate with? Would you really prefer a homogeneous society? If the price of multiculturalism is that we have to get out of our comfort zone occasionally or every so often reevaluate our views (which people should do anyway because the world isn't the same place it was 50 years ago), then it 'aint so bad.

Let's not slap each other on the back too hard because someone piped up and agreed with a hypothetical off the cuff remark that was made. Brb...getting pitchfork...

Nobody slapping cocks here, simply agreeing that fairness and logic needs to apply, even and especially when dealing with people.
