MY GOALS:

I have started training seriously 10 weeks ago, and am on the SL 5x5 program currently, with 2 weeks remaining.

Initially I could not do deadlifts or squats because I never did them at all. Feared hurting my spine so would just do random stupid isolated exercises and got no where. I remember trying to deadlift with Rian a few months back and 60kg's would give me lower back tension and pain and 80kg's would near about put me on the floor for a lie down session. Squats I would do once a year and would rep out some terrible form ones at 90-100 and just bail.

Now 10 weeks into my program I am comfortably pulling 140kg in deadlift for 2x5 and perhaps uncomfortably (maybe too soon but picked it up with full lockout nonetheless) 160 x2. I am also currently squatting 110kg with decent form as well. Additionally to this I started eating clean 3 weeks ago (wish I had of started right from the beginning of the program but oh well better late than never), additionally to my strength gains I have dropped 2.5kg in this time from eating the goods (brown rice, chicken, veges etc). Few blowout meals here and there as im new to dieting I guess you can expect a little of that. But the determination is strong.

My PB:

(These are my PB's and not necessarily the heaviest lifts I can do as I have simply not attempted heavier on some)

Bench: 100 x4
Squat: 112.5 5x5
Deadlift: 160 x2

Current weight: 87.8KG

Goal weight: 80KG reassess and go from there...

I would like to welcome you to the Ausbb- Australian BodyBuilding Forums, Good to have you all on board. Don't forget to start your own Training Diary. Your Training Diary will help you stay motivated and keep track of your progress. When you train alone sometimes it is hard to get help, guidance, inspirtation and motivation which is where the Ausbb forums and the Ausbb Training Diaries will help you with finding others with similar stats and allow you to interact with each other.

* Click here to start your own training log (don't forget to put a link in your signature to your training diary).
* Once you have started your Training diary click here to add it to the lists (order by weight and order by age) this helps other guys find your log.

Hello everyone! Good to be here!

Hi all,

A quick introduction about me. Recently moved to WA from the UK with my wife and son. Been training off and on for 10 years although with all the moves and changes in life recently, the last 3 months has been more off than on. Predominantly strength training has been at the forefront of my workouts- now looking to lose a few kgs, whilst improving strength again

Been working ridiculous shifts and a 60+ hour week since arriving here so combined with a 10 month old baby- training has been a bit slow of late. Just settled into our new home in Perth's northern suburbs, landed a Monday to Friday job working a 38 hour week and have a 24 hour gym directly opposite us! So looking to hit the gym hard once more- NO EXCUSES!

Been a member on muscletalk uk forum for a while so am familiar with the forum life, rules and general workings etc.

Look forward to to getting to know you through cyber-space and sharing tips and knowledge and experience.

Cheers

Bungee

G'day everyone, I'm Nathan.

Rather than a long winded intro, here's a bit little snapshot of my life pumping iron and generall fitness...

I started lifting weights in my early 20's. I made good strength gains almost immediately and become hooked from there on. In 2001 I competed in ANB NSW State Titles and then the Australian Titles a couple of weeks later. If you lift weights with any real passion, I highly recommend competing on stage at least once. You will really know what you're made of.

I joined the Australian Army Reserves and won 'Best PT'. I believe it was my 87 pushups in 2min that signed the trophy. Until a few years ago, I use to run 4min/km - which isn't too shabby for someone who is 100kg and 6'2"

At my strongest, around 2006, I could do 30 strict chin ups, Bench Press 180kg for 2 reps, Squat 215kg for 2 reps and deadlift 230kg for 2 reps. I still think back to those days where I use to bench 100kg for 20 reps as a warm up. When I first started, I use to dream of benching 100kg and envy anyone that could...

Then life and work got in the way and I stopped going to the gym with any regularity.
A few years later, I bent to pick something up and I fully ruptured my L4/L5. 10 months in bed whacked out on Valium and Morphine stuffed me around physically and mentally. Then, Following a long over due spinal operation, I went from barely being able to walk to the letterbox, to walking 1.5km the day after being discharged from hospital.

By the 8th week, I was walking up to 60km per week. And then, as my luck would have it, my L4/L5 took an even bigger dump as I sat down one morning. Back on the drugs for another 2 months before my 2nd OP and, 18months later, I finally have the confidence to begin exercising with more regularity, purpose and motivation.

The time has now come to transform this body of mine that has become restless, sluggish and weak though long periods of inactivity and over-exposure to some seriously mind numbing medications.

I will spend very little time in the gym - some habits are hard to break and the temptation to lift heavy again is still roaring inside of me - I've already tried. For now, it will be a mix of high intensity cardio, calesthetics, kettle bells and some free weights. And from what I've seen around the traps, a bloody impressive physique can be carved out doing just that, so lets see what I can whittle out of my blank canvas...

Thanks in advance for the warm wishes.

See you round.
