[Music] Any Metal fans here?

Zero Order Phase is a seriously killer instrumental album. Loomis is insane! I still haven't given his latest release much of a play yet. Something to listen to tonight me thinks.

You're right about these solo records and guys abilities going un-noticed except for fans of a band the artist plays for.

Its like Chris Broderick. People think he's simply Megadeths 2nd guitarist but Broderick is an absolute freak. Shreds and is a classical virtuoso. In fact he played with Loomis as part of Nevermore's live shows for a period of time as well.

(I'd post a link, but I'm on the work computer and they've banned YouTube).

Calling it very early, but album of the year for mine is Riverside - Shrine of New Generation Slaves. Like most prog, its much better as a whole album than just single tracks... but regardless, some samples:

didnt go to soundwave, how did metallica go ?

They were awesome, same with Slayer.

Random question.

I'm putting together Russ's awesome MP3 metal CD for the car and I'm after some new stuff to put on it.

I've got plenty of old stuff, but nothing new. What's good these days? Some of the bands I liked back in they day were, Metallica, Slayer, Sepultura, Fear Factory, Carcass, Megadeth, Rammstein,

thanks

New Machinehead (The Blackening, Unto the locust albums)

Honestly, if you like Metallica and Megadeth et al. things have not improved in that classic thrash style. Nobody is going to improve on master of puppets or justice for all :p

Machine Head put out two solid albums since 2007.... 'The Blackening' and 'Unto the Locust'.

You might also like the band In Mourning, its a standard modern-commercial style of metal executed well. I like the album 'Monolith'.
