yes, he underperformed by his standards, but at that level just a few per cent decline makes an enormous difference.

Bit of bad sportsmanship from the Egyptian coach in the woman's 69kg final. A final successful lift by the Columbian lifter would put her in bronze medal position and knock out the Egyptian lifter. The Columbian failed the lift and walked off looking very tearful. As she was coming off the stage the Egyptian coach was there waving his arms around and jumping about shouting out to the crowd, "Allahu akbar!" He was right in her face as she walked all the way back to the warm up room, screaming and shouting and waving his arms about. It was disgusting. I was hoping someone would punch his clock.

Wow, nothing worse than a sore winner

no surprise, at least two of rio gold medal weighlifting have had recent two year ban for anabolic steroids, including yesterday's 77kg mens winner from 2013 to 2015.

Kenyan athletics coach John Anzrah was sent home from the Rio Olympics after posing as an athlete and giving a urine sample in a doping test, Kenya’s Olympics chief told Reuters on Thursday.
Anzrah is the second Kenyan official to be sent home from the Games over doping issues.
“We have sent (sprint coach) Anzrah back home. He presented himself as an athlete, gave the urine sample and even signed the documents. We cannot tolerate such behaviour,” Kip Keino, chairman of the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK), said in a telephone interview from Rio.
Last week, Kenya sent their track and field manager Michael Rotich home from the Games following allegations that he requested money to let undercover journalists, posing as athlete representatives, know when drugs testers would come calling.
Rotich has denied the accusations.

What a f***wit.

hey spartacus; did you listen to Emily Seebohm post race interview, She just quantified what I have been saying. She has missed her peak. She's not the only one.
Giaan Rooney the commentator even said so.

I have been correct all along. Poorly prepared or there are greater issues. maybe they tapered off the supps too early. I don't know why. I love it when we win. :(

Larkin the backstroker swam 0.8 below his PB. All he needed to be was to match it or even go 0.4 slower and he wins yet the American peaks perfectly and swims a PB to win.

I think C.Campbell should win. She looks a class above. Hopefully 1st and 2nd.

wow, shrek, I will leave that to you. That is indeed a mental lapse. 53.24 is way, way outside what she has and was swimming prior to final

yes, but not easy to peak. Do you always peak? I remember rooney also losing a race she was supposed to win.

So what are you - the national coaching genius?
