Tonight, world record freefall from the edge of space

lol the man was parched! :p

And he's quite right, red bull spent millions upon millions, but they can't organise for a jug of iced water with a slice of lemon in it to be available at the desk? lol

Bless him. Such a diva :D

I find it absolutely incredible that he felt nothing going down. I guess if you've no reference then it makes absolute sense. But damn, going that fast and not feeling anything..

i suppose like he said , he was in the pressure suit so couldn't feel the wind blowing past him or his clothes flapping

two of your major senses taken off line hearing and feeling , only relying on sight that was half impaired

Ha classic. I imagine he would have felt immense pressure in his head. Not sure if the average person would be able to handle it. Would love a doco on the training and procedures leading up to this. Fascinating stuff.

Another better vid I stumbled across, actually shows when he started spinning out. But damn what a view!

Interesting one on their camera setup.
Red Bull's Quest to freefall a man from space will be shot on RED

Looks like red bull recorded a ton of 4k video footage
using 35 cameras in the capsule and attached to Felix and on the chase chopper
and had three downlink channels from the capsule

I got so excited watching this I had to lay down.

My wife couldn't/wouldn't understand what the big deal was.

Neither did mine, I specifically woke her up when I was watching it live at 4:30am to make sure she saw him jump, she said it would of been more interesting if he died -.-'

Women. Seriously. Lol.

When he started spinning I almost had a heart attack, I genuinely thought he was gonna die, and half of the world would be watching... can only imagine what was going through his head.

What astounds me is the fact he did it with a slight malfunction of his helmet, and the fact he didn't manage to break the free-fall record. Brave dude. Although if it was me doing it, it would've been more impressive 'cause I'd have fallen faster on account of the weight of all the shit in my pants.

Haha! Ie got a feeling that's the only record he didn't break due to going almost 50% faster then joe kettinger when he did his jump. That's what I thin anyway. Seeing his helmet cam when he spun out too makes you dizzy watching it! Lol

I only got a chance to watch that at work today... I definitely got nauseous. Lol.

I think they said in the post-jump analysis once they got the data back that he had to pull the 'chute slightly earlier than anticipated because of the helmet issues. Maybe I just read that as an unofficial thing. But once you hit a certain point, you fall at the same speed all the way down.
