Need some equipment

I train in a commercial gym at the moment but I just bought a new property with a decent sized garage so I will be setting up a home gym with a powercage, dumbbell bench, barbell and weights which is all I really use the gym anyway.

Nice, if you can get a cage that has a dip-bar attachement and multi-grip chin bar then you are set. If you have the cash then I'd recommend getting a good quality bar from the beginning. ABC or Texas bars are the best at a reasonable pric that we can get in Oz I think. Shit bars will eventually bend.

Yeah I've got my eyes on a cage where different attachments can be bought for it, I can also fabricate GHR and reverse hyper extensions for it fairly easily. At the moment I'll just be buying a normal bar / 190kg package but will buy a texas bar at some point and use the older one of rack pulls etc. Will probably be a few years on though

Rack pulls: the best way to fuck up a bar beyond belief.

I've seen someone bend a bar before with 100kg on the bar after he dropped it doing shrugs over a bench. This was back when I was training for nationals in a decent facility as well so it's not as if it was short of racks to do shrugs in

I have some knee wraps.

Still haven't taken them out of the packet lol.

Knee/elbow sleeves however get used 2-3 times a week

I was just thinking using the knee and wrist wraps for 1rm attempts. Do I need to break them in before I do this?

If you want to compete in Raw powerlifting you won't be able to use them in comp so personally I don't see the point.

Typically though I think the newer the wraps are the more you get out of them but best to speak to someone who has more of an idea.
I can remember Minh saying guys at PA would use a new set of wraps for every attempt in comp.

u shouldnt have to break them in, they just get more comfortable over time as the material softens a little (and of course they will become more comfortable as u get used to using them).

I thought knee and wrist wraps were allowed in raw competitions?

Wrist yes knee no, unless you compete at ProRaw.

But with Powerlifting Australia and CAPO knee wraps are only allowed if you're competing equipped.

Wrist wraps are ok as the wrist is considering an "immobile" joint during the lifts

Is this PA approved?
