From what i've read i'd say 5x10 as my understand is more than 5 sets at working weight can lead to decreasing returns, but i'm not sure if thats bro science or not.
you'd be able to lift more 10x5 than 5x10, so total volume would be higher...
depends on what your looking for and what lift... for strength when i do a training cycle 3x5 for squat and deadlift is all i do + assistance, but benching requires much more volume... iv been mixing things up with stuff like 6x5 6x3 5x6 etc and doing the same for various grips and dumbbells + assistance
too many variables to set an optimum range overall
Changing it up and adapting your workout, between lower weight at higher reps, and heavier weight for lower reps, is a smart way to train, for size AND strength.
