Is there only really just calf raises?
How would you do this in regards to the ankle?Hill sprints is one I can think of, don't obsess over raises though but if you do to preserve the ankle, like all exercises also add the reverse type exercise to strengthen the antagonist

I have shit ankles from sport, wobble boards have played a massive part in my life
Just like the calf raise but you place the heel on the platform as opposed to the balls of the feet
What? I tried putting my heel on the calf raise machine today and there's no way anything was going to lift in that position lol
If you work your calves without working your tibialis your legs will snap and you will die.
Oh... should be called a shin raise then!
If you're doing hill sprints, the muscle in your shins will get worked. That area of my leg is always tender after doing trail running/hiking.
Some other ideas.
