ProRaw Powerlifting

What???????? lol

Anyway, looks pretty good that there may be a US company involved in sponsorship, with press in the US.

I have no doubt that we will have International lifters in our first year. Strong ones.

RISING BAR TACTICS 101

I've just finished watching the 77kg class in the World Weightlifting Championships from Turkey.

After the snatch, the Armenian held a 3kg lead over the Chinese lifter going into the jerk.

Armenian calls 200kg and goes first, he misses.

Chinese takes 200kg and makes it.

Armenian takes 200kg again and makes it.

Armenianis now 3kg ahead with 1 jerk left, Chinese has 2.

Chinese lifter only needs 203kg, as he is lighter.

Armenian calls for 205kg, rising bar, so the Chinese can ask for 203kg, but it wont be enough if the Armenian is successful with 205kg, so he waits.

Armenian misses 205kg, but the Chinese lifter cant ask for 203kg for the win, rising bar.

He misses 206kg twice, Armenian wins with a clever 205kg call.

By the way, how strong are these guys, seriously.

Not too impressed with that, tbh. The Armenian won not because he's stronger - I thought that's the whole point to this sport.

Yes he did, he totaled 373kg, the Chinese totaled 370kg.

He outlifted him AND outsmarted him.

Mistakes the Chinese team made:

Take and make the 203kg, worry about the last attempt when it matters.

He only needed 205kg to win even if the Armenian was successful with 205kg, they took 206kg.

Lifters, stay in the moment. Dont be concerned what others are doing. Make your lifts, everything else will take care of itself.

The Armenian won the Gold Medal because he lifted more weight, pure and simple.

Stupidity is not a crime, the Chinese will learn from this.

Another thing that wont be allowed in ProRaw.

Pissy little 1kg jumps. There will be no 1kg jumps, only 2.5kg jumps.

Seeing as there wont be individual lift records, no need for .5kg plates.

If your going to beat someone for total, it needs to be by 2.5kg.

Im presuming it is Tigran Maryrosian from armenia and Lu xiaojun from china. I remmber these 2 hoing head to head last year at the world championship in korea. Lu Xiaojun looks amazing unreal physique and I love the way he power Jerks .. almost goes ATG when her jerks. Those figures are a few KG short of Lu xizjuns WR's that he set in Korea but from memory.

Both lifters squat jerked and both only just missed their last attempts, very good competition, the stronger man, the one that lifted the most weight, won.

Just the way it should be.

Not too impressed with that, tbh. The Armenian won not because he's stronger - I thought that's the whole point to this sport.
Any system will be gamed by people. Just the fact that you've only got so many attempts at lifts leads to games, the person who lifts last has an advantage in that no-one can try for an attempt bigger than theirs.

You just have to pick the system whose gamesmanship you enjoy, and try for the biggest lifts you think you can make. I mean, no system of arranging lifts however dodgy is going to stop Nick lifting more than me, or Konstantinov lifting more than Nick.

Spot on, the strongest lifter wins.

The shame for the Chinese lifter is that he got out lifted and outsmarted.

I think i might have misunderstood the rule there. So the Chinese lifter was allowed to lift 203kg, but he decided to skip 203 just in case the other fella made 205? In that case, it's a very fair tactic then.

Correct. He was thinking 2 lifts ahead rather than being "in the moment"

He should have taken 203kg, then watch the Armenian miss 205kg....Gold Medal, and one lift to go.

For the record, he would've needed 211kg for WR

This sounds awesome, if the atmosphere at these comps is anything like Aus day, it will go off!!!!!!

Weightlifting in australia needs someone like you markos, i wish you all the best!

Since we got back from Idaho, I have had 1000 hits on our website, 1000 channel views on youtube and 4000 hits on our videos.

I've had a handful of new clients join up, and emails from people everywhere getting diets and programs.

I should travel more often lol

I have to admit, the no belt policy really got a few lifters intrigued, they listened intently on my reasoning, I guess they were curious and checked out the site.

I got some funny comments when they saw footage of Chris deadlift 603lbs in board shorts and a T Shirt, weighing 93kg

They joked that we epitomized raw lol

Thanks to everyone that checked us out

I'm going to collate figures from lifting comps in Oz and abroad to try and come up with the absolute best weight classes I can get, they wont be far off what I first posted, I want to make sure I get as even a spread as possible.

It will still be 4 classes, but I want maximum representation in each.

I saw that last night, thats why I thought I might have to re think the weight classes I selected

Mind you, I dont understand why they bother with weight classes if theyre going to use Glossbrenner to select a winner.

I'd like money for each weight class, a 3 comp season and a MASSIVE prize for the guy that accumulates the most Glossbrenner points during the season.

I have ideas on the MASSIVE prize, securing it will be extremely difficult
