I had the choice of PA or CAPO, though CAPO would have required me to pay to train or be coached at a local crossfit gym, I chose PA, because IMO it has the most consistent rules and best squatting that is more in common with what anyone can do at home or in a gym without knee wraps (equipped) without specialised equipment. Also things like not using specialised deadlift bars etc. I also like the setup of the comps - they are set up as a formal sporting event - no need for blasting metal music and fancy murals on the walls etc.
I agree that some of the rules are tightarsed in PA/IPF, and IMO it costs too much for novices to compete, as well as rules around what can and can't be worn etc etc. IMO powerlifting as a sport would be a lot better if all 3 feds in Australia merged into PA.
I have noticed a number of GPC / CAPO types who claim that hardly anyone's using gear etc etc etc, there's an easy way to clear this up, start drug testing.
My .02 as a relative newbie to the world of powerlifting.
PS nice bait thread, I'm sure Markos would have had a good rage if he were still on here.
