Not doing bench press

why does my GP reckon that pressing weight above my shoulders (ie OHP) is bad for my shoulders? Said benching was way better for "overall body strength". Not sure what and why, but I always prefer OHP cause it works the front and rear of my delts.

Would you ask an exercise physiologist about cancer?
Why would you ask your GP about something he isn't even trained in?
 
All the GPs I've seen are apparent experts in diet, nutrition and exercise.
But none of them look like they could run out of sight on a dark night.
