Powerlifting is not about exercising, its about shifting more weight, so we shorten the range of motion. This is the opposite to creating a better athlete.
Wide stance low bar parallel squats are innefective compared to Oly squats for athleticism. Wide grip arched benching is poor compared to push press.
He's a boxer, shifting maximum weight over the shortest range is not going to help.
Single DB overhead press is my all time favourite lift, as long as its done strict.
I would recommend dumbbells over a barbel for pressing.
Any movement that will make you stronger will make you better.
