I believe the QLD Shooters Union is affiliated with the NRA, maybe when they have a Victorian branch I'll join. Currently already a member of the US NRA, SSAA and FGA.

They made their stance pretty clear, but that doesn't fit the "MUH NRA BOOGIEMAN" leftist narrative, so it seems that many choose to omit it.
[MENTION=2727]Fadi[/MENTION]; I suppose the thing is that criminals tend to almost always use guns that were never registered, were handed back etc. The registry system is a bit of doubling up of paperwork anyway, since the gun shop keeps a record of what is sold to whom, as well as having to submit permits for each firearm, even though you already posess the right licence

so if they had looser laws less gang bangers would shoot each other? pull your head out your ass. it highlights the violant gun culture and these ease at which anyone can get a gun. it also shows that having a gun gives you fuck all protection as you can bet the world the people murdered were carrying as well.
 
It points out that gun control does nothing to curb extermely violent anti social behaviour and individuals. Gee you're grasping at straws here. I'd rather carry for protection than not, especially in that part of the US.

Compare the populations too Stiffy, one major city in US has our whole population crammed into it, that densely packed, throw in some guns, add some poverty and low education and boom, nigas be shooting each other at the drop of a hat.

We don't see the repeated Mass shootings that they see. They get that every month. We've only had Hoddle Street and Port Arthur etc. They get that constantly.

Chicago has no firearm registration, allows concealed carry, does not require firearms to be secured in the home (only where minors are present), and whether a permit is required to purchase (aside from FOID) is hard to determine depending on where you look. So if this is an example of 'the toughest gun laws in the US', it's no wonder they are in the predicament they are. The reality is that Chicago firearms laws have in fact been relaxed over the past 5 years.

Another linchpin of your argument which is ridiculous is that laws within one state are the be all and end all of firearm ownership within that state, regardless of whether they neighbour states with far less stringent laws and easier access to firearms illegal in other states. How hard is it to drive to the next state to get the guns you want? In fact there is undoubtedly a lucrative market in this.

Example -

Just days ago, a Chicago man was sentenced to nearly three years in prison after pleading guilty to helping purchase 43 firearms from gun shows and individuals in Indiana to sell on Chicago's South Side.

As I have said, I am not anti gun. I enjoy shooting and my right to do so, as do many of my friends. I also think the balance Australia has currently struck between individual's rights and legislative firearm control is about as good as it can get. The NRA is a right wing organisation committed to the proliferation of firearms period. It is in their best interest to do so. Anyone who thinks differently is kidding themselves imo. At least have the balls to admit it. It doesn't diminish your right to support them.

In before someone says ' they are a civil rights organisation much like those campaigning for women's rights or racial equality'. The answer is no.

No not really, not even close
New York being the largest US city has less than 9 million
The next largest is Los Angleles with less than 4 million, so we have a couple of cities almost as big as LA and yet we don't see daily mass shootings here

US cities have their city population and then the population of the greater area because they spread so far. Greater LA is like 18 mil. Depending on what source.

I remember LA just going on forever when flying in there. It is fucking massive.
