Malaysian plane shot down

This is just awful.

29 Australians were on that flight.

Including a Perth Grandfather with the three grandchildren in tow. This is going to devastate the Perth community.

Meanwhile back in the world of the living I look forward to my flight out of Hanoi today on Malaysia Airlines.

The Ukrainians have said it was their missile battery that the rebels had seized in recent fighting.

The he thing that's making the ruskies look bad is phone intercepts of the rebels getting on the phone to their Russian military advisers straight away.

like you said though the yanks can't get too preachy they shot down an air Iran jet carrying 300 passengers, funny there is very little mention of that in the current news.

seems like a tragic accident really, no one wanted to down a jet liner.
 

Where did they say that? not seen them saying it was theirs.

Also pretty much every expert has said there is no way in hell they could operate it with out some training or russians involved. its hardly an apple product

No sanction can take effect. Russia has Europe by the balls through energy supply.

Turn off the gas and it will paralyse the economy in Europe.

Obama and the U.N. are fools.

USS Vincensse springs to mind, but they were "only Arabs" anyway, weren't they?
 
it works both ways, Russia needs currency for its energy.

If Russia was to keep pushing the boundaries of what is accepted, there will be sanctions.

Time will tell how long the West tolerates such behaviour.
 


this is exactly right Russia owns the gas and pipelines. No gas during a euro winter & you freeze to death

US could cripple russia with sanctions if they wanted. the only down side is it could leade to greater russian aggression similar to Germany in WW2.

Make no mistake, russia needs europe as much if not more than europe needs russia. Europe would survive without russian gas.

Here are some sanctions for the pea brains here,

Ban all russian companies accessing financial markets.
Ban all russian companies exchanging US dollars.
Ban russian government from exchanging US dollars
Ban all russian companies and diplomats from entering the US
Cancel all outstanding US treasuries heald by russia (150 billion)
Trade embargos
Seize assets belonging to russian companies and russian government

Then on top of that add all the sanctions the EU could impose in regards to the euro currencry and refuse to purchase russian gas (which is the biggest thing fueling the russian economy) and rely on north sea gas.

Anyone here who thinks putin has the upper hand clearly doesn't know dick about geo politics.

And at the end of the day, if it came to the worst..NATO would wreck russia so fucking hard putin would need to bring his own lube and he knows it, he tries to be a big swining dick because he knows obama is weak..but if it comes to it he will back down so hard it will make your head spin.

its only in recent years the US has seemed weak, simply because they dont want to get drawn into some bullshit middle east crap. Don't be fooled though, the US is still the worlds only super power and no one could ever challenge them

Going to devastate a lot of communities, including one family in Qld who lost a family member in the disappearance of flight MH370, now they've also lost a family member in this one too. How unfortunate is that!

Civilians have been killed and are being killed on a daily basis all over the world. Nothing is new. As far as being blown out of the sky:

October 2001 Ukraine military shoots down a civilian Russian airliner killing 78 passengers and crew.

Israel Shoots Down An Errant Libyan Plane, a Boing 727 on Feb, 21 1973, killing 108 people on board.

In 1983, Soviet fighter jets would shoot down a Korean Boeing 747 airliner, killing 269 innocent people on board.

In 1988, U.S. Navy Shoots Down An Iranian Plane, an Airbus A300 over the Persian Gulf, killing 290 innocent civilians. They mistook it for an Iranian F-14 fighter.
