A new Pt started on Monday. 6'2 105 kg 7% bf year round and all natural.
Did 130kg front squats ATG with 30 sec rests

I sat down with him to do my 12 point caliper bf test (im a fat 13% ATM)

I found out his got 2 phd's in human exercise physiology and nutrition and studied from Charles poliquin himself (the guy who invented German volume training)

The guys got this vain running down his thigh like a fucking worm I couldn't stop staring :0

So he did some tests seems I have high cortisal and low test levels due to stress and not enough sleep.

Anyways he says he can get me from 13 to 7% bf in 6 weeks (naturally) while still growing muscle and staying at 75kg mark.

$50 an hour first 3 sessions then a weekly catch up once a week.

What's your thoughts??

Nope lol at my gym. I dont easily just pay people like that. I have travelled to Melbourne to see ptc takes alot to convince me to hand over my cash.



Ok I found out I had high cortisol levels because of the 2 cups coffee I have daily. Gonna have to weed myself off it. The joys of office life.
 
13% to 7% in 6 weeks whilst roughly maintaining bodyweight is a pretty big call. Go with it and see what his got though.
 
I've got to go to some food centre here which tests u for food tolerance. Some people don't metabolize certain foods better than others such as people having lactose intolerance etc

It helps u determine which foods are for you do u don't go wasting money time eating stuff which won't absorb

If i were you I'd be following out Markos' advice for a little while - getting that MM power rack, doing PPP or something similar and picking 2-3 assistance lifts that you know have worked for you in the past. Oh and eating :D

Are you sure he has 2 Phd's? That is around 10 years of study between them with undergrad (4 years). Also if I had 1 Phd let alone two I would not be working as a PT in a gym.

If he had to Master degrees I could understand 1 in Ex Phys and 1 in Nutrition.

Also Poliquin did not invent GVT, he just popularised it.

Im sure he said PHD.. might have been one PHD and one masters degree.

The dude charges 80 bux an hour lol. Thats a fair bit of money. Some people i know with PHD's masters don't get that much in other fields.


I was under the assumption Poliquin did invent it from what i googled but my bad. :rolleyes:
 
How exactly does he think you will grow any muscle at all while on a hardcore cut?
You generally "look" bigger when you lose bodyfat, even though your weight is going down, and you are not infact growing any muscle (you can't because your on a calorie deficit). Alot of people mistake this for muscle gain.
 
It is still possible to gain muscle while losing fat... but only if your obese and not eating too far below maintenance calories, not possible to do at 13% body fat though.

It could be a good opportunity to learn something new. he clearly can do it himself. your goals are aesthetics so markos may not be the best person to get you there. its up to you and its your money.

I reckon if he has 2 x PHD's then 80 quid is fair. Most plumbers these days are $70 an hour.

A good taxation advisor is usually north of $500 an hour...

Yeah markos "might" come across as not liking bodybuilder/competing or the sport in general lol :D
but he understands that everybody has different goals when we had a chat while i went to see him last and thats what its all about.

I live by the principle preach what u teach. The guy ticks boxes just from aesthetics. Now to drill his mind mwahahahahaha
 
If it sounds too good to be true -- it is.

This PT's claims are pretty outlandish - just as an example Shelby Starnes of Troponin Nutrition who works with top level bodybuilders and powerlifters doesn't even claim results like that, and he's right on the cutting edge. Not to mention those claims aren't compatible with human physiology.

I'd be extremely careful before I handed over money -- better yet, save your money and just put a bunch of hard work in. If you know your sleep patterns, stress, and caffiene intake are raising cortisol levels, fix that. Don't pay him A LOT of money to be disappointed.
 
Hey ceffo, if this guy brings the goods can you let us know? Would be keen for a meeting with him.

there's a clinic at Miranda where the staff all have degrees in ex phys and nutrition. Ones the specialist for the sharks and another is the specialist for the dragons. In the end they are still just dietitians trying to make money out of us. But your guy sounds like he's got the body and training to back up his claims.

Absolutely spot on.

The trick is simply to tell people what they want to hear.

I have a friend who did this Poliquin course, he tested my clients body fat.

Anyway, he started telling them they could spot reduce and depending on where the higher fat % registered, what was causing them to get fat.

The results were hilarious.

Two people, one with shredded calves, the other with Cankles.

The one with Cankles had fat calves because of interupted sleep. Interesting. Clearly everyone with fat calves doesnt sleep well.

The one with shredded massive calves wakes every 2 hours, terrible sleeping pattern. Apparently no fat for him.

What he is promising is absolutely impossible, a calorie reduction is needed to shed fat, so its not possible to build muscle without eating more calories.

Unless you pay him of course, then he can do anything.

Charles Poliquin has destroyed his rep but made massive bucks with his new trainers.

Charles Poliquin did NOT invent GVT, he also never claimed to either.

Trent, you've been around long enough to know what he's promising isnt possible
 
If you were impressed by 130kg front squats, you should come back and I'll show you some guys doing them with 160kg at PTC......for free.

Please ask him about how many calories it takes to build one kilogram of muscle (4000) then ask him how many calories you need to burn to lose one kilogram of fat (9000)

Then ask him to show you the math on how he does that.

1gm of protein = 4 calories. 1kg = 4000
1gm of fat = 9 calories. 1kg = 9000
