Seems to be everytime a company says they're close to a Vaccine the media heralds it as great, then it falls over. The Pfizer one looks hard to implement.
Once/if Markets realise this the arse will fall out again Grunta
That Pzifer Vaccine announced last week is supposed to be 90% "effective". This Moderna vaccine announced last night is supposed to be 94.5%. Anyone else skeptical?
That's a false statistic Mick. I'll dredge it up later. Old Barstools like you, @Goosey, Shrek and your Sister are at a very high risk of long term damage. No long term immunity, left unchecked it'd probably kill you eventually Mick. This is not the Flu.
My 78 year old aunty recovered fine, she did not even know she had it.
It's not a false statistic, there have been no additional deaths this year over any other previous year. Average age of Covid death is the same as average life expectancy.
Any actual evidence of this other than you just saying it.
Current overall claimed covid death rate in the US is less than 1 person per 1000 population.
An average death rate of around 8 - 9 persons per 1000 is the CURRENT normal natural mortality rate in the US and it has been that since about 1950 so the morgues should be well and truly used to that by now.
Shit ran through my family in Germany.
My cousin, 40 yo strong bloke is pretty fucked with it, in hospital on respirator, no other underlying conditions.
Hopefully he gets through it ok.
His mother on the other hand, not of greatest health, 60+ yo, got through it in 2 weeks.
How does that work?
Any actual evidence of this other than you just saying it.

Covid has killed less than 1% of the population in the US, if the numbers are believable since dying with covid is treated the same as dying from it.
It's not even doing a good job of killing its hosts for something that is routinely described as "deadly" and the average age of its victims is around the same or higher than the average life expectancy anyway.
I'm not suggesting it's not fucking people up, just that it's hardly the world ender everyone is crying about.
ONE case of the UK variant and Greater Brisbane goes into a 3 Lockdown with somewhat mandatory mask wearing. The nature of my work puts me out n about, I've seen few instances of non compliance so far. Police and Politicians are commending Qlders for their compliance. Reminds me of the response to other disasters (ie the Mud Army) reminds me of State of Origin - you bleed for your Brother in the defensive line.
Did they "overshoot the Runway" by going into Lockdown over one case, perhaps.
"Coronavirus vs. Flu Deaths
COVID-19: There have been approximately 1,900,807 deaths reported worldwide. In the U.S, 365,346 people have died of COVID-19 between January 2020 and January 8, 2021.*
Flu: The World Health Organization estimates that 290,000 to 650,000 people die of flu-related causes every year worldwide.
The COVID-19 situation is changing rapidly. Since this disease is caused by a new virus, the vast majority of people do not yet have immunity to it, and a vaccine may be many months away. Doctors and scientists are working to estimate the mortality rate of COVID-19, but at present, it is thought to be substantially higher (possibly 10 times or more) than that of most strains of the flu."
