Is there many people interested in competing here?
Is there many people interested in competing here?
Would just be something to prove to myself it could be done.
Here is an example of my last competition diet leading into the show
Upon arising (do not eat)
caffeine (200mg)
cardio
45mins
If anybody is interested in getting "ripped" remember it's not genetics that gets you there it's hard work but it's not hard if you enjoy the journey
Love your dedication!
Jim I think skin wise you would be good, you are not losing weight drastically and are replacing weight lost with muscle too. Plus it's not like you were 180kg now is it so if you put it all together you should come out great. A few stretch marks are not visibile with a tan unless you get really close up. Good luck with the goal, people with set end goals like that usually do well. Maybe once you are under 100kg you can set a date for a comp and work towards it.

The reason being, that the body will burn what ever is present quickest for energy, and having an 'empty' stomach means it will go for for the fat stores in your body and burn them.
Any proof behind this?
FYI, water has very little to do with your metabolism.
Devante -
13 weeks out from comp, when I did my depletion cycle, part of the routine was a 45 min brisk walk / cardio on an empty stomach every morning.

That was what I was taught, and combined with about 4 litres of water throughout the day (to keep my metabolism going) really helps you shred.
Once again, for the sake of n00bs - I am saying that's what I did, not what I am saying YOU must do
Even mild dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%, Marzz stating that you need to drink enough water is correct.
Dehydration Does have an impact on your metabolism very much so
It speed up your metabolism it is a stimulant, now doubt it will run your metabolism at a higher rate.. but at what cost? That is the argument..
I think Marzz point should have been it will keep his metabolism from decreasing due to dehydration. Just needed to be worded better or explained better by his trainer.
You can argue all day long whether empty stomach light 'cardio' (walking) is better at using fat or if it will use more muscle. But at the end of the day while derka is in cutting mode it may be his best option. When I am home I am going to go through some journals and see if there is anything about protein metabolism due to fasting available. Pretty much all arguments are in theory but theory can be used both ways. Glucagon promotes live glycogen use, cortisol promotes fat use, they both promote more protein metabolism (not known at what rate), protein as a fuel source is spared over fat until extremes in energy levels are reached (most research is on marathons etc). At the end of the day it may be they lose 600g of muscle but lose 2kg of fat while doing fasted walking or it could be 200g of muscle with only 1.5kg of fat after eating something. Yes you have lost 400g more muscle but you have lost 500g more visible body fat. This is all hypothetical though. If my phone wasn't going to die I would research it now, if anyone else wants to go to the trouble please be my guest.
