its about respecting the animal your eating. hopefully in the right hands, the disrespect we see in western raising and slaughtering for cheap and manufacturing, we get somebody who respects the animals that kills them more humanely.
in some cases, religion trumps cost, so they don't cross that line.
for breading animals, and slaughtering them, i prefer their view... is it that hard to realise or believe?
you have access to unlimited cruelty documentaries, how about you watch some and find out what really happens. my father also used to work for steggles, said it was a machine that cut all their heads off, and their growing cycle and food, don't even get me started!!!
really. i don't like religion as a word even, but its about morals. when you respect shit, you treat it better. someone with morals will def raise better *anything* than someone without. just ask bazza with zero morals.

Have not read every single comment in the thread - but the companies that are "halal certified" are more than likely doing this to make more money - not to respect Muslim culture etc etc - think about how many Muslims there now are in Australia - as a company are you really wanting to miss out on that slice of the pie? and the rest non muslims even if they have a problem with Halal certified food wont take the time to check everything anyway like a large number of the Muslim community would....simply smart business from companies....

Well it's wrong for starters Animals live for a while after having their throat cut. That's why it's not an accepted method of slaughter for us here. It would be good if people looked past religious traditions and did what is better for the animal.
sure, we can always do things better, but I suppose the real 'moral' of the story for us evil westerners is producing enough food that is affordable so we can all eat.
Yes, we are not perfect, but don't offer simplistic do gooder summaries generalising about the West's supposed lack of morality when addressing food issues.
If it was all about profit, then our practices would not have improved over the years. Reality is that western societies are increasingly modifying to find right balance.
