Good Mornings - Who Does Them Here?

As the title says, I'm just curious to see how many of you guys do Good Mornings...

Any opinions on the exercise?
 
never liked good mornings much, as I don't like barbell bet over rows.

I do hyperextensions with weights after leg curls or before. I find this hits my lower back and hamstrings really well.
 
Used to smash these - seated and standing - thanks for reminding me of these - will add them back in the training cycle.
 
Good mornings are great...I like the hamstring stretch and they train you to hold lower back position. I can't see how these wouldn't help your squat that's for sure.
 
i did deadlifts for first time in ages 2 days ago, my hamstrings are sore as despite only doing 4x4/100kg

I see absolutely no point in doing good mornings when there are SLDL

Yeah.

i reckon the goal here is to do these with straight legs, and stiff.

with the this version as opposed to the GM's, you can really load the back safely.
 
When I started doing these, years ago I could only do them "stiff" but with a slight bend in the knee because I couldn't maintain the lower back.

i read that people like grimek did these with a straight leg, and the benefit received.

over time /years I persevered , I can now SLDL with a straight leg, 120kg x 12 good rep's, I do this after a hard set on the leg press.

its helped with hip tuck also.
 
As a short torso'd person I never got anything out of good mornings but I like to put a plate on either side and just rep it out.
I much prefer to deadlift with a larger range of motion
 
Good mornings would be superior to SLDL for the purpose of building the squat...
I do SLDL as well but you can't replicate the back tightness required for a deep and properly done good morning.
How about: Do both :D

Just exactly how short is your torso? Also, where do you come up with this shit?
 
I rep out on seated barbell gms on the bench, far safer, and helped my lower back far more then standing ones did

How you manage to do them with straight leg, do you rely on SLDL to give you a deep stretch or you do static stretching before?

it took a long time.
Every week one or two sets of 10, with with straight legs, only going as deep as possible, over time my ROM increased, when i became competent, i started using progression.
