Why don't you make a small platform to mount it on? Just drop down a layer of carpet, then put down two sheets of ply for a 2400 square. Protecting the floor, and the ply will handle what you throw a it...

Is there anything wrong with using the Force USA Home Power Rack? I know something with more holes would be better but will this get the job done for a beginner on a tight budget? I'm looking at the $999 package on gymandfitness.

That's a little far for me (Cessnock). Would still need to put in an order with someone for the rest of the pack anyway.

Where the Power Rack gets a pretty good rep for being a quality unit for a decent price, the Home Power Rack is generally considered flimsy and undermade. If you're only doing lightweight, I couldn't see it being a problem, but if you want something of quality and to last, I personally would just keep saving.
So it'll definitely do the job for a begineer, but it is lower quality than the Power Rack.
And if you plan to work hard (as a $1000+ investment usually denotes), then how long do you really plan on staying a beginner :-D

Had a look at the individual prices of the racks and the regular rack is only $100 more. But in a package it comes with a fancier bench which apparently increases the price by another $200. Will have to see if they will do me a $1100 deal with the old package and the upgraded rack or something like that.

Guys, question about this power rack
my ceiling is only 2300
Could i invert the chin bar if necessary ?
Also just letting you guys know i got an ebay offer for one of these accepts for $565 which i think is a great deal. Wasn't long ago the base model Force USA power cage (F-HPC) was going for that much.

Yeah you could, but if you're tall ish it could be annoying with feet hitting the floor.
That's pretty cheap, I paid $730 delivered for mine. BUT if I had the choice again I'd get a different rack. Probably one of the Cyber Fit 400kg ones for $495. Only because barbells dont fit properly cause the rack is too wide. So buying specialised bars for powerlifting is now a pain in the ass.

You'll just need to double check with the retailer regarding the model (and width) of the rack. There's basically three models of this rack still floating around.
The first is the oldest model that dates back over two years and should largely be gone from market these days. It is an older design and will not fit any of the current attachments for this rack. Some places are still selling them off dirt cheap.
ForceUSA updated that F-PC rack about two years ago to a newer design that was also wider - 1290mm from the outside of the left j-hook to the outside of the right (I'm assuming this was wider to give the user more room in the rack). This unfortunately meant that you needed to get a 7ft barbell that was atypically wide between the plate stops to fit it. This is the rack Bams has got, and I know he's had all sorts of problems getting a bar to fit it (even the ForceUSA 7ft barbell barely fits the rack).
ForceUSA have now updated their F-PC rack again to a slightly skinnier design that has a more standard width of 1210mm. This means that most 7ft bars will fit it with no problems and this is the current model.
You'll need to check with the retailer to make sure that the F-PC they are selling is the current model – that is, one that is 1210mm wide. If it is, just check the distance between the plate stops on your 7ft barbell to make sure it's more than 1210mm (preferably quite a bit more to allow you room to re-rack safely) and you'll be fine.
If it's the older wider model, then you may need to hunt up a wider barbell.

Thanks for the detailed reply Graeme. I measured my barbell and it's 1300 between the plate stops so fingers crossed it fits though it will be snug.
If worst comes to worst, anyone know where to buy a 7ft barbell (standard not olympic) which has a gap between plate stops of more than 1300 ?

Just put together my rack (Pictures in the show us your gym thread). Am happy with the rack, looks great but tried the dips and nearly tipped the thing over. I'm 95kg so was a bit dissapointed but I'll be working out with another mate who can stand on the other end to counter balance it, or use the band pegs to load some weight on the opposite side.

Hi Snoochies,
Do you have the dip handles facing the outside of the rack when you're using them (as shown below)? If so, this can cause the overbalancing.
If you face the dip handles in towards the centre of the rack (so you're dipping inside the rack) you should have not problems with it overbalancing.
Or, if you can bolt these racks to the ground....
