Geez they are getting an absolute pummelling.

Paki Kunce got the fastest 100 in history. 57 balls.

Equal fastest I read, so not that impressive...

Aussies too busy partying to get good at sport these days. The best we have isn't as good as it used to be.

No body cares any more. Id not be surprised if in 20 years time we were no where near the top of anything.

This country is just breeding mediocrity with too many do gooders out there destroying the will to win and competiative nature of kids from a young age, without this combination taught at a young age there will be no hope for future generations to be competative at sport at the highest level. To many of these young kids come in and rely on natural talent and too interested in making big dollars and partying hard to worry about winning, natural talent only gets you so far, when competing with the best in the world it is hard work, training, a will too win and a killer instinct which gets you the rest of the way.

one day they may realise that the big dollars only flow whilst you are winning and being competative.

ii also put this down partly to the way the country is going with all the imigrants and multiculturism, consider this, in the years gone by and with other countries there has been a real sense of patriatism and following your countries team, now with ll these other nationalities they would prefer to live here and support their country of orrigin in most cases instead of the country they live in, therefore the support our countires toop teams has dwindled compared to say 15-20 years go when basically you followed cricket you had the whole country behind you.

Part of it is the bullshit with kids sports.

Not scoring with junior sports. Everyone is a winner. No vote counts for best player. No best on ground awards. Participation medals.

Kids are taught from an early age that mediocrity is ok and you still get the rewards for it.

Anyone who keeps a participation medal needs to have a look at themselves.

Also I think government funding has been cut to plenty of sports.

my trophy cabinet would be empty then! lol

I agree with you on the 'everyone is a winner' bullshit. Thats stupid.

Kids keep score, they know who won. Even if there isnt an official count.

I coach kids (12's & 14's) and give them almighty rev ups before games and make sure they learn & are genuinely disapointed from a loss and celebrate any win, no matter if its a walkover or a 1 point ugly win. Previous coaches were happy for them just to be competitive, I want them to win every fucking game. Not just for me, but for them as well. Its surprising that the kids actually appreciate aggressive coaching. They really respond. So do the parents, even more surprisingly!!

Lol. Somehow I doubt that.

I think is great for kids to learn early that everyone is not a winner. It takes hard work to get the rewards. It helps them not just in sport but general life.

You're right mate. And the kids do respond to it well. The kids I coach anyway, WANT to win.

kids an be both competitive and learn that winning is not everything.

That is what I try to do with my daughter, but she is very, very competitive.
