Interesting statement made in the "traps" thread got me tinken.

to all you goat rooters.

Based on training techniques and in general terms, who do you think would (all things being equal) be more conditioned to jog 10KM's?

Distance runners har har har.

Or Crossfitters. From what I've seen, distance running is not all that conducive to lifting heavy. I do stair / hill sprints personally.

Who are we choosing from?

Yeah, but if one did need to jog 10KM for whatever reason who would fair better?

Does it reflect good health?

Crossfitter, that's whole idea of the sport of Crossfit.

Take the Games last year for example. The second event was a half marathon row with the first 2km also a time event. The winner did the first 2km in 6:30 or something there abouts,, the same guy went on to win the half marathon in 1:18, then, on the clean and jerk ladder starting at 135kgs went on to clean and jerk 150-155kgs.

I left Crossfit in favour of Olympic lifting but missed the "fitness" to much, so I've recently gone back to Crossfit

I think you should have asked in the PL thread, which powerlifters could jog 10km? :p

I voted crossfitter since they actually have to run in their training.

I know people from every discipline that do distance running and people from every discipline that don't
The answer is the one that runs the most often
Malanichev runs 5 or 6km every day
Pudz swam a similar amount
I can still run a 6 minute mile, even though I do very little cardio just walking my dog each day, simply because I grew up competing in such sports
Bazza is a lifting hobbist, plays footy as well, sure he can run 10km pretty well

Stupid question

Do you think genetics matter for this test?

Do you think the level of athlete also matters?

If it were out of the body builder, power lifter and Olympic lifter, in their respective weight classes and level of experience, I'd guess, and this is only a guess, weightlifter, body builder and power lifter. I'd also guess it would be closer between 1st and 2nd then it would be 3rd. Would be an interesting test.

Who is "fitter"? Well, probably a crossfitter as they do so much cardio intensive stuff, but that hardly makes them a "fitter" person. If you want to know who would do better in a 10km run, then a marathon runner or a 10km specialist or Ironman competitor. Who is "fittest" to pick up 3x bodyweight? Um, not a crossfitter or marathon runner.

I don't understand why you think running 10km makes you "fit", except to be fit to run 10km. Fitness is about being able to complete a given task. Not the ability to perform and/or recover from aerobic exercise.

Its kinda like the medical profession that uses BMI to dictate fitness. A skinny fat person who can't pick up his own weight or run up a flight of stairs is fitter than Phil Heath.

Why would anyone want to run 10km, except for the crossfitter so they can tell everyone they ran 10km cause #crossfit

I dont understand why running is useful, except maybe to catch a bus or get to point B faster, for whatever reason. If you need to run to chase kangaroos, I would prefer to sit in a tree under which they seek shade and drop a fukkn big rock on one. Much easier plus it tenderises the meat and guts it all at the same time. Running after a roo? Ain't noboddy got time fo' dat.

Running useful? It's about as useful as deadlifts. When was the last time you had to pick up something over 25kgs to mid thigh other than in the gym?
