Deadlift is NOT a 'Back exercise' Deadlift is a DEADLIFT. Its a multi-joint movement that requires a stupid amount of bio-mechanic and neuro-muscular motor control.
If your Deadlifting 'For muscle X' then your doomed to a life time of rubbish puling and the inability to get laid. Remember, chicks are hot for big Deadlifts.
Agreed, I usually like to keep my back workout separate to my deadlift day.
After deads you should be totally drained of energy (at least, I am). They're a full-body exercise.
