Powerlifters may get away with a lot more in some countries (e.g. Russia) but the bottom line is that for world championships all winners and record setters are tested. At least in the IPF comps. The other feds are a rave party. So at some stage, every world class lifter has to face the testers. Usually multiple times.
You can't dodge a test when you are walking off the lifting platform in a world championship. You can't hide under the bed or do a runner.
There are drugs that some have taken to block kidney function, but those drugs are now tested for as well. Even if you get a clear result but your test levels are above a certain level, you fail.
Frankly, a lot of the posts in this thread are kinda kuncey. You are assuming that a lot or most of the lifters are "drug cheats". Granted, some are and get caught. But there are far more clear results than fails. Same for other sports. The whole atmosphere in sports is to win at all costs, so some are going to try to get an edge.
